FYI - There are modified engine isolators that will fit. Now that I know what the source of the vibe it is only a matter of time to correct it. If the Lexus does not fit I am confident I can locate one or fabricate one that will work.

    Patrick,

I just got back from a 200 mile roadtrip, and am hurting and desperate. I just got caught up on your explorations and this is exceptional news. Thank you thank you for all you've been doing.

Totally understand - I am as annoyed [for lack of a better word] as you all. I will say that even with these hydraulic engine mounts we may still feel some vibrations, which is normal resonance from any engine; yet I could not find any in the Canyon.

Where is there any definitive information that this is indeed the source of the "vibe"?

Patrick, I am definately interested in what you find out regarding the motor mounts, this so far makes the most sense to me. OEM mounts must be made of something inferior, and of course over time they start to deteriorate, hence the vibrations being transferred through the frame into the cabin.

To clarify, the engine is likely the source of the vibration, the engine mounts are likely the medium through which it is being transferred into the cabin.

Looking back, I believe even the engineer who tested @Doobiewah's truck insinuated this.

At least one of us should try to get the dealer to remove and replace the rear engine mounts under warranty to test this.

Hi guys, I need your advice! I put a deposit on a 2106 crew cab off road this past Friday and I'm suppose to seal the deal Monday (tomorrow). This would be my first Toyota! What would you guys do if you were in my shoes? Go ahead and buy it, hold off, or run away from Toyota? I'm at an absolute loss after reading this thread! Thank you!

Try and get the dealer to remove and replace the rear motor mounts under warranty. Not "normal" in any vehicle I have ever owned.

I agree that the engine mounts are certainly a plausible source. However, the "engineers" who reviewed Doobiewah's truck made no mention of these as being a possible source of the problem (see post #320 in this thread). Rather they referred to either the manifold and its connection to the exhaust system and/or the exhaust system itself or to the direct injection/ignition dual cycle system itself and the firing sequence and programming of same as possible culprits or perhaps a combination of the two. But then, on another note, the fact that drbane's truck was made worse by loosening and then re-tightening the mounts is certainly suspicious. And then again, last week some members here were pretty sure the exhaust heat shields were the most likely source. The bottom line here, at least for me, is that I don't think that anyone, with the possible exception of some tight-lipped Toyota engineers, knows what the source is at the present time.

I do appreciate all the time/effort that many members here are putting in toward solving this problem. At present, my Sport with approximately 700 miles has not developed the issue, but I hold my breath every time I drive it.

Please re-read my post, I said the engine is the likely source, as the engineers have stated. Engines vibrate, which is why things like engine mounts are engineered to reduce or remove the vibration.

Everything is worth trying, except perhaps bashing the constructive work people are doing to help alleviate the problem for others.

I certainly am not bashing the constructive work that anyone is doing in this regard.

Sir-FYI I have been consulting with "engineers" and I am driving two new Tacomas.
1- A Sport which failed at 1700 miles
2 - Limited failed soon after.

Hi Patrick! Yes, I have seen your previous posts in regard to your issues and that is one of the reasons that "I hold my breath" every time I drive mine, wondering if today will be the day that it shows up in mine. I am as anxious, and supportive, as everyone here for this issue to be solved in a timely manner.

So, has anyone put a significant number of miles (say 5,000 or more) on their vehicles without this problem developing as yet?

I have not read all 955 posts. Was this issue different from the drive line vibration?

I kinda feel your pain. I am dying to pull the trigger on a Sport. I've been without a truck for 4 years, and I'm going nuts. There is no way until some of the issues are dealt with by Toyota.

Big thanks for everyone's due diligence
