I still need to call about mine. I just haven't done any long drives or interstate driving, other than to verify that the issue is worse at higher sustained rpms/speeds. I felt it in the seat too, if you sit the right way it'll put your rear end to sleep most likely. o_O

I tried the dealer approach. 2nd dealer I've been to, I let both of them know I'd like to go along for the ride to help the tech diagnose it. Both times they let me know when they were done that everything was normal. Both times I had somewhere else to be, so couldn't make a fuss and wait for them to take another ride with me.

I'll do the phone call to Toyota tomorrow since the dealer technicians are not that helpful and I don't have hours to sit and wait for someone to tell me that everything is normal.

As swimmer points out, the most substantive progress is OP’s post 117. I don’t have much more on my case after the shop re-torqued the engine mounts several weeks ago and an Field Technical Specialist (not RFT, sorry) sent me on my way with “we’ll monitor and keep you in the loop.” Since then, the issue has worsened. I now have the vibs in the 1,000-2,000 RPM range just cruising around at low speeds, whereas I didn’t have them in that range before the procedure. And the vibs in the 2,000-2,300 RPM range have gotten stronger and taken on a different, rougher charectaristic. Feels like something is broken and getting worse the more I drive it. I reported the deterioration yesterday. Don’t know what will happen next but still hoping for the best.

Interesting. When I went in, originally, the Master Tech at my dealership was told to loosen and re-torque all mounts to spec. He told me that he didn't do it because he felt that was not the problem, and wrote it up that way. After reading your problems, I'm glad he left that alone.....very glad.

Well a close relative just took delivery of his new 4x4 AT Limited today and I just took it on a spin with him. Nada. Perfect, smooth as butter. Not a hint of this issue.

I'm taking delivery of my 4x4 limited next week and I'm hoping this is the case for me as well.

I so wish......maybe they have figured it out and have the problem solved on the assembly line? Only time will tell.... One would think they could figure out why one was perfect (the relative's) and ours sucked with the vibration problem... I'm suspicious that Toyota pushed my test to mid-January as they may have a fix published by then?

We can only dream that the fix is enroute...

Unfortunately two days in and my relative started noticing the issue in the Limited today. It started after a few long drives back and forth to work 20 miles each way. I took it for another spin tonight. It's sure enough there now right at 2,100 RPMs, although not as pronounced (yet) as in my Sport.

I've got an hour commute to work and noticed on mine that the the issue doesn't show up for the first 5 minutes after I get going first thing in the morning. Then it creeps in slowly after 30 minutes of driving--very subtle and slowly intensifies. It's pretty much full on and pretty rough by the time I get close to work on the hour mark. I then take a few road trips during the day for site visits and it's there full force, no need for warm up. Stays in full force the rest of the day. This behavior seems like a mechanical clue...

So has it been determined that this problem is limited to 4x4's exclusively??

I love how they say it's "Normal" just because all of them do it. Like it wouldn't be possible for Toyota to have an engineering problem and they would actually need to fix it.
