I hope the video doesn't completely change the narrative on Zach's work.

That thing was being a pain in the ass, I just happened to catch it in funny context.

Zach and Frank put up both posts for Maner's lift (no small task) while we were doing a little grinding and touching up spots on the smoker. The four of us got a lot of stuff done on Saturday. I've had the good fortune of cooking with Zach before and have really enjoyed spending time with Maner and getting all of his help and expertise put in to my pit. I'm glad to have finally met Frank and spend some time talking with him. Those are three really good dudes to have in your corner.

The smoker has the door hung, the drain put in, the pass-through for the pit probes squared away, 4/5 racks done, a little mod Maner added to the heat-transfer channel for more usable space in the cook chamber, firebox door curb put on, and we ground/smoothed a LOT of welds. Mind you, this wasn't cleaning bad welds - they looked plenty good - this is smoothing the seam out completely. Like Maner said, this thing ought to look like a six-figure hot-rod after paint. There will only be a few places on the exterior where we leave the weld in place. The rest will be smoothed and polished to look like the whole thing was cast from a single block of steel.

You and me both! I had a little too much whiskey Saturday night and wasn't able to get back out yesterday, so no further progress .

Zach had to get back and Maner had some errands anyways. ;)

I think one more weekend and we'll be ready for paint.

Trust me... There was no good narrative for me anyway

You know what you'll get if you get me involved. :D:thumbsup:

Also, it must be pointed out... that we were able to post some stuff to TW during that day due to one simple fact...

I provided WiFi for us to use!

I forgot that fact. One of the great ironies is that the only person WITH wi-fi was Zach.

Shouldn't the smoker itself be able to provide wifi at this point?

The recess for the controls will be big enough that I can put a hotspot in it if needed.

You should have heard all of the ideas we were coming up with. @Bigdaddy4760 , @Misplaced Nebraskan , and @Pandaman59 were firing on all cylinders.

We had everything from using an array of wireless probes (like the Meater), to interior lighting, to a clear glass window on the front door, and lots more. It was a dangerous beer break. If we'd have taken on all of the ideas we came up with, it'd be another 4 months before we finished the damn thing.

I can tell you from my own personal experience with my own smoker.. the window in the door is a great thing!

It's a PITA to clean every time but it does save so many questions when you can just have a glance an know things are going well!

Maybe v2.0 can have a tempered glass window! Haha

From the movie be cool. This is how I imagine Zach when he helps.

But did you add the holder for the interior cameras so Zach doesn't have to open 1,700 times to check?
