One thing I'll miss when my HeaterMeter finally bites the dust is the auto-damper. It has a blower for bringing temps up, but it is also enclosed in a 3D printed damper that will adjust and close off when it needs to keep the temps low. Mine will run at any temp I pick between 200* and 325* within a margin of about 2* for a day straight. The only dips come when I open the door and then it senses a quick drop in temp and doesn't turn the fan on for 4 minutes (user adjustable) to see what it recovers to. That keeps it from stoking a fire that is already burning right for the target temp. It's a fantastic device whose support fell off during Covid.

I'd just leave your ball-valve at about 50% all of the time. When you're able to force air in anyways, might as well set your ball-valve to a minimum temp.
