i was planing on cpnnecting it to the rail system on the cab side of the bed... like in the pic above but a shorter pole?

whats the advantave of the longer pole? longer range or does it matter so much?

I ran mine under the cab and thers a big drain hole plug that I pushed the wire through. Then i removed the driver seat and center console so I could run the wire into the glove box and mount everything in there.

mines only 2 ft long and has a good at least mile range. Although I have a quick question. How do you ground the antenna itself.

mines mounted like yours in the rail....Guess I'll have to run a ground for it. Will that help get rid of the constant static?

It's not tunable. It was supposed to be "pre-tuned"

silverback, Did you have to run a ground down to the frame after you mounted it to the rail? If so do you have a pic of how you did it? I want to mount mine similar to yours but i am not sure if the rail counts as a ground any help is much appreciated.
    thanks in advance.
