I guess it depends on how you use the vehicle. My E load ko2’s road like bricks, adjusting tire pressure didn’t help. Maybe if you play in the rocks a lot. C and even D load seem far better suited to the weight of the Tacoma.IMO
Just got new c load duratracs

E load. Have had great luck with BFGs with an E load rating. Hold up for 50K plus miles. Have had them on a Mazda pickup years ago, F150s and 2 Tacoma’s.

E rated. At the right pressure they ride just fine.
I'd rather take a small hit on fuel and not worry nearly as much about trying to change a flat in a shit spot on the trail.

There was no difference for me in fuel economy, which was kind of surprising. They just rode like bricks on my stock suspension. Even my wife, who knows nothing about cars, noticed how much softer C load was.

The only positive thing i can say is that my truck handled turns way better with E load. Now i cant drive like Mario Andretti anymore...:pout:

I run 10 ply E tires on mine 28 psi rear & 34 front yea thier a bit harsh

Flats are a worse pain in the ass

Not sure if you knew, but E load does not actually have 10 plies. Its 10 ply rated.

So it gets worse if the were to actually be 10 ply?

OUCH these little lightweight toys (Tacoma trucks) don't have enough weight in thier asses for anything stiffer than 10 ply "rated" tire as it is.

SL rated tires actually exceed the weight rating of the Tacoma rear axle. All tires have between two and three plys in the sidewall, including E rated.

The rating is to determine how much air the tire can hold, which determines how much weight the tire can carry. That's why E rated tires are supposed to be run at 80psi. Run them at Tacoma appropriate psi (30psi) and the weight rating on the E rated tire is compromised so the rating is lower than the SL.

Fun fact C rated tires are designed for ultra light jeeps and often have a weight rating lower than an SL tire.

A lot of people run E rated tires because all the really good looking AT tires only come in an E rating. The disadvantage of so few small trucks and so many full size.

So unless you are hauling a lot of weight or airing way down to crawl over sharp rocks, an E rated tire is total overkill on the Tacoma.

and while the much heavier E rated tire (almost double the weight of an SL) may have minimal impact on mileage in some cases, it absolutely has other effects. more weight to spin up, slow down and for the suspension to damp
