I've never owned a GM, but I've been in and around plenty and they just don't seem very well put-together. For American cars, I suppose Ford would be my go-to (I know Mopar is in my username, but I'm starting to feel the same way about Chrysler that I do about GM). I don't like Ford that much, but they build OK trucks and they have some interesting cars.

Taco and a G8GT, built by Holden in Australia, they call it the 4-door corvette that you can afford the insurance on. Same car raced in the V8SuperCar series down under. The G8-GXP variant even has the old LS-3 out of the vette under its hood. I pay $686/year for high limits insurance, about a third of what a vette would run me. Your wife can drive it to get groceries and carry the kids too. Here's one that is about to get a P1SC Procharger/Patrick G cam combo, with all the bits needed to make it last. 12.53 car now w/ intake, headers and tune, should be well into the mid to low 11's when complete. Now there is you a grocery-getter.

Built, not bought. That's the only way for it to have any sex in its violence. I do love the look of the new vette though! Now, just put that 32-valve Cadillac motor in it...

I’m not much on the front end of the Supra or the BMW thing, but go on YouTube. People are easily 500-650 WHP just with a turbo and tune. Pretty impressive. Plus the Corvette is nice but it is a big car overall. Still nice though.

I know I trashed GM in my other comments in this thread, but I've always had a thing for the G8. They are such excellent sleepers.

My local dealer had a $25k "market adjustment" on the Supra, so the total sticker was $84k!! Ridiculous!!

Yeah, however people buy the Supra at 60K+ and dumping more money for a turbo, tunning etc. when the C8 produces 495HP right out the box. Makes no sense to me.

The new vette is tempting, but I see it as pretty much my Yamaha R6 in the sense that I can use it for work, joyriding, datenight, and if I wreck in either i'm screwed. I'm keeping my tacoma, paying the shit off on my 15 charger rt, when the new tundra/tacoma come out I'll more than likely get one of those.

those people are essentially buying a bmw, at 60-80k you're better off at least getting an m4. If youre smart you get a decent used 335i with the n54 motor, spend 3k on upgraded turbos and another 3k in bolt ons and you have an absolute BEAST!

Wow, I wouldn’t even consider buying the 1st year of the mid engine Corvette from GM. Those poor buyers are paying sticker or more and will be unpaid Beta testers. I can already see the recall notices!

This was an easy decision, I have an order for the crate motor and will be putting it in my Tacoma. I already have the proper gas cap sticker.

Guys, I get to drive a very well-prepped 740hp GTR on occasion, as a designated driver for my fantastic college roommate who would rather ride and sip his Crown neat. It is a monster, but for all of its speed and quickness, all of its safe handling, it just has little sex in its violence. It is too buttoned up and tidy in its application of power. Instead of three yards in a cloud of dust it just squirts where you point it. I contend that the Supra will be just the same. My evaluation is really not fair though. My performance as sex metric is derived from roadracing that Tonykart pictured over there, about as quick around all but the fastest tracks as a 911 GT3 cup car. I have also driven a 2013 ZR1 in anger. 102 in only second gear, and got there REAL QUICK. Now THAT car is some porn there. No replacement for displacement, AND the sound of a supercharged V8. I'll take the Vette over the GTR or the Supra any time.
