C8 Corvette

My Dad's $65,000.00 Denali needs new injectors with 21k miles and the dealer told him to drive it with the CEL on because with the strike they have no idea when they can get the injectors. He ask if it will hurt the engine and the dealer told him they don;t know but it is under warranty anyway so just to use it because they don't know when they can help him. He was a little pissed. LOL...

My mortgage is paid off in about 5 years - that gives GM 2-3 years to work out the bugs, and then I can pick up a 2-3 year old lease return. Or a C7 for a song if the C8 meets / beats expectations.

FWIW one of my best friends has a 2014 or 15 Denali. Had 88k miles a couple months ago. It has towed a racecar in an enclosed trailer, and a travel trailer. It has been problem free since new, just requiring normal maintenance. Your dads experience sounds like BS. Injectors would be in the supply chain, not affected by the strike.

EDIT: The injectors for a 2018 Denali are available from multiple online retailers. Nice try.

 

I'll be doing the rest of the deciding in this thread on the C8, and I decide they are cool.

Haven't they only ever made one of them until now? That isn't exactly what we would describe as a statistically significant indicator that they are not capable of producing a good one.

Well fuck me, now I am a narcissist, LOL... I am using multiple sources and reports of known issues on the C8 along with trends from GM's past to come to my conclusions coupled with my experience. I could give less than two fucks if you do not agree.

As for the injectors. I have a Silverado as a daily, my wife has a Tahoe and I have had very few issues with them so good for you that your buddy has had no issues. As for the DEALER not being able to get the parts the employees at the parts depot for GM where the DEALER is required to get the parts is on strike. Therefore there is no one to ship them to the dealer within the GM system.
