Why would anyone want to live in CA? Not saying TX is perfect, but at least we don't have nazis writing tickets for every stupid little thing, and politicians constantly creating more stupid laws.

Did the OP mention if it was for noise or for emissions? Seems likely since he was stopped, it was for noise. You need to do what my friend did and have an independent shop measure the dB in a controlled environment, then take it to the station...legally they should sign off the ticket with no fee, but cops in this state (at least in my town) have a habit of writing their own rules, especially where revenue is concerned.

You guys have yearly state inspections don't you?
We don't. No smog check on a new car for 5 years from purchase also.
We keep our tags on our rear plates and not on the windsheid along with the inspection tag you guys have to display.
    Am I right?;)
Both states have good and bad especially where firearms are concerned but I've been here since 1963 and would not give up having the Pacific Ocean at my door ever.:D

I had a buddy of mine buy a legal kit and install it and then went to court and fought saying the kit was legal and they went to inspect it and it was legal. The cop didn't take any pictures of the illegal system on the truck so the cop looked like a dumb ass... you could try this route unless the cop took pictures? This was in Northern California too.... atleast the cop looked like an idiot HA HA I love to tell that story.

Yeah, we have annual inspections, but we don't have to have CARB stickers on every little thing. We also don't have cops pulling you over to write you a ticket just in case you might be illegal.

No smog checks unless the vehicle is pre-OBD II (1996 and older).

What good does CA have in the firearm area?

I'm sure the Pacific Ocen would be awesome to live near though :). It sure beats the Oil of Mexico, I mean the Gulf of Mexico.

Its the cats he's probably talking about. The trick is get the cats from a junk yard and empty them then install them in the factory location. That should fix your problem.:D

didnt happen to me when i had my amplified device tick, i was at a stop liight where they had a road blocked off for a concert or something, and the cop was a good 100ft away, and i cranked up the radio and was pretty loud, he walked accross the intersection, and hand wrote me a ticket. he didnt ask if i had an amp or anything, and he wrote me up for a missing front license plate. Depends on the cop and how he is feeling, and how you treat him. my cop wrote off the license plate right there when i told him i was going out of town for a month. respect goes a long way.
