So im in the market for some perfomance upgrades; CAI, Exhaust/headers,(supercharger possibly). was looking at the URD site and all their CAI are non California Legal!

Really liking the Doug Thorley headers(which are CA legal)
    http://www.urdusa.com/Exhaust-&-Hea...4.0L-V6,-Short-Tube-Ceramic/product_info.html

BUT NO COLD AIR INTAKE LEGAL IN CALI??????

Anyone know of any good shops that can hook you up with maybe a fudge on emmisions if you have the work done there?

Plus any suggestions if I want to LT later will these upgrades affect the LT or vice versa?

If it's just an intake you can simply save your factory airbox and swap it out before you go get smogged.

eh most places do not look that hard. Just keep all your stock parts. If it pass the Sniffer test you good. My s-10 passed and I never go called out on any mods. although my K&N had a "CARB number" but my cat and ECU flash where not CARB approved but still passed the sniffer test.

You're letting these "rules" stop you?

Half the shit on my mustang isn't for sale in Ca but I still have it.

Make some friends at the smog shop.

I think it depends where you are at also. Some counties are stricter than others.

I had an old VW back in the day and I used to just install the factory parts to get it smogged then replace them. Took a couple of hours each time but I never had a problem.

I think a CAI on our truck are pointless since they actually suck in more hot air than the factory intake. Just get a drop in K&N and save your dough for a different mod.

come to South Carolina.....!! I lived in San Diego 15 years..LA 3 Could not run far or fast enough away,

Still have beach living (albeit with no traffic and plenty of parking and WARM water LOL)

$300 sales tax cap on all vehicles

NO SMOG CHECKS no Inspections. No regs or tags needed for trailers just buy one and go.

If you want to carry a loaded gun within reach....no problem. LOL

Property taxes on homes less than one months rent....

I would not think of moving back to Cali.

    Downsides.....

None of that really nice 4 wheeling country or desert. mountains, no "cultureal stuff like theaters, big time sports, although NY, Florida 10 hours away. Atlanta closer........no real need for a 4WD here. .

Need to come with money..employment is pretty high along the coast, But you can live a lot cheaper so you don't need to earn much if you do find a job.

The TRD CAI is CARB legal.
The short headers are CARB legal. The long headers are not.

You just really have to figure out the in's and out's...if you can make your headers look stock or even just tell them that its a trd header they'll probably go for it...

What they don't know ain't gonna hurt them....

Plus the trucks pretty new anyways their probaly not gonna ask alot of question

thanks for the input guys! didnt even cross my mind to install the old stuff when it comes time to smog. Thats the route im going to go.

I lived on the east coast in NY and FL for 20 years so believe me I miss it! Got laid off a couple years back and CA was the only option for my field of work. The offroading is great! but smog, taxes, rules... etc the list goes on with the downsides.

No I don't think so although you can drive up to the Outer Banks where there is some good driving. I don't know where I would take a 4WD here an need all 4 wheels drivin.

Yeah I enjoyed Glamis and especially Nevada trails. GREAT 4 wheeling camping trips. Actually I liked living in Nevada better than Ca as far as 4 wheeling went. Lots of open space and then at that time there were few rules. the trails around Lake mead were nasty..Only the smallest trucks could make it to the water. Like Wranglers. We usually rode up togerther and parked and got in smaller vehicles as the trails go tighter. The fullsize trucks were first then the Tacmoas and minis ..we would pile into the Wranglers and small Toyotas leaving our trucks behind.

I always wondered what would happen if i snapped a tie rod 40 miles into the trails with my daily driver......I had some balls then..would not do it today
