I can't tell you where as I have guys in my party going this weekend.
That said, we got into deer Up by the close area up hill from antalope lake.
I got into deer around Taylor's. And Janesville grade.
Also look at BLM land or Bass hill.

I think this season will be tougher than last year’s for me. Didn’t get any pre season scouting in and couldn’t hunt opener. Got out yesterday and saw no deer. Did see a bear though, but didn’t have a tag.

    How about y’all?

I ended up with a D-9 Tag. Never hunted there so it’ll be fun. Any suggestions would be helpful. Well any helpful information would be helpful. I thought I would clarify that. I know how TW gets sometimes.

No premium tags here...up to 3 pref points. So I'm back in D3-5.

Got a C zone tag this year. We'll see how it goes since all SPI properties are closed as of now.

I was also lucky enough to pull a D3-5 tag.
Not lucky in AZ or CA. Didn't put in other states as my duck dog spent all my money on magic knees after blowing them up in duck season.

Don’t feel bad I drew nothing in CO,AZ,NV,UT,WY so I feel lucky with the one good deer tag… I do have 20 CA elk points… still think it should be illegal like everything else in California

Just found this thread. I dont usually cruise the area forums. Cams are out and I have had boots on the ground a couple times already this year. D3-5 and B tag for me this year. Already scouted what looks like is going to be a wide forky. Going to pickup the cams tomorrow from a different area and move them to a new location next week. @bulleit95 If youre serious about some backcountry hunting, let me know. Everyone I am supposed to hunt with just keeps flaking out. lol This year is B zone and D3-5, bear; Idaho - Elk, Deer, bear, and wolf! I also hunt both archery and rifle. It is my first year hunting D3-5, but I have been hunting for 20 years now.

You have got to be kidding me . X6b burned to a crisp and now the national forests are closed for d3-5 . What a joke close it the day before archery opens

Starting to look like the new normal, this is basically the same thing that happened last year. Hard to complain when people are losing everything they own to wild fires though.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

All I know is if they shut Stanislaus, I'm locked out of my hunt 2 years in a row. I'll never buy a hunting license again in CA. This IS probably the new normal, and it sure works nicely with an anti hunter agenda.

Time to save up CA points. And start looking out of state. Pretty sure that the route I’m going to go with

Not even going to bother with CA points. This State's hunting is fucked. Even the Premium hunts.

My buddy (a very accomplished hunter, not some slouch) spent 11 days in X5A two years ago... did not see a single buck worth shooting at.

DFW is just, basically, stealing our money at this point. And dumb schmucks will just continue to hand them money and go out and drive up and down the forest roads with a Busch Light in their cup holder and shoot at the first German Shepherd sized "buck" they see with a "fork" in the antlers, bearly wide enough to rest a pencil in... and claim... "IT's MeAt iN tHe FrEezEr."

The hunting in CA is hopeless... because the vast majority of hunters are hopeless.

Sorry... I'm just not very positive right now.

I totally understand. The hunting is practically non existent. And I usually backpack hunt, there just ain’t a ton of deer out there. Which I think at this point I’d rather pay for out of state and go for elk.
