New member here, '15 TRD OR on order.

I'm about to order a cap ... torn between the ARE MX series vs a cap that is level with the cab.

I've searched the internet and looked at the cap threads on here ... can't find a ton of pictures. Anyone have an MX cap on a magnetic gray access cab?

My brother has the same cap on his older access cab in silver; I just can't decide if I like the look over the cleaner lines of a cab high cap...

    Thanks in advance.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
I have a Raider cap. Cheaper then the ARE brand. Anyway, I have had both styles of cap over the years and can say this...

If you want to sleep inside your bed, car camping, then the extra headroom is nice.

Otherwise get a cab high cap.

I put ski and bike racks on top and even a luggage carrier occasionally. The truck is lifted 3" and I am 6' tall. Can just barely reach things - pop bikes up and down, etc. If my cap roof was higher I'd need to use a step atool.

And I still sleep in my bed no and again without too many head bangs.

I had cab high on my Nissan and have over cab height on my Taco. I sleep in the back regularly on a platform that's a couple inches higher than the wheel wells. I prefer the extra height, even though I'm 5'7". If you're not sleeping in it much, go cab height. It's easier to reach stuff up there and is a cleaner look IMO. Roof racks on both and the rise makes it waaayyy harder to reach up there.

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
I had a LEER 100R on my 2006, it was a scosh lower than cab height. I now have a LEER 100XL on my 2014, perfect cab height IMO.

Thanks for the replies and pics.
I like the look of a cab high better, assuming it actually is ... some I've seen are a tad lower.

I'll be sleeping inside some, but probably not as much as I use the rack for bikes / kayaks / etc.

I priced out an ARE V series (because I want the windoors) - does anyone have any pics of the V series on a Tacoma? Hard to find online, but I'm wondering if the cap is a tad shorter than the cab of the truck.

    Thanks again
