I recently cut the cab mounts on my 2014.
My brother welds for a living so i asked him if he had time to throw some plates on there and he hooked me up. I asked him to throw some wet rags or something up in there because i had always heard of the bushings catching fire if your weren't careful.
Long story short ive been noticing some creaking going over bumps in the front end area. Was trying to think of when it started happening and disregarded cmc for obvious reasons but had realization that since it started nearly the same time that possibly the bushings had been heated up too much. I was working when it was being done and im pretty sure he disregarded my dumb neuroticism about the wet rags.

Anybody experienced this or heard of bushings squeaking after cmc by chance?
Or like the 10 other squeaks, clunks and noises from steering rack and other areas is this just another tacoma noise I should try to forget about. Ty

First I have heard of this, My son had CMC and it did not cause a squeak. What UCA are you running?(looks like TC) Also did you change to aftermarket coilover? Reason I'm asking is I wonder if this is all about timing:notsure: Wondering if the squeak is coming from the bushings on those UCA?

yes tc uca's have been on there a little over a year with fox coilovers and no problems. My question, as dumb as it sounds, is whether body mount bushings could have been heated up too much by welding causing the "creaking " noise. Probably something else but just very coincidental As it started a little less than a week later. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced something similar. Worth a shot

When's the last time you lubed the bushings and uni ball on your TC UCA's? Might be prime time for that. Also, you can torque the body mount bushings to eliminate that the squeaking is coming from them.

Never any dumb question man, hopefully someone has heard of this before. My TC UCA started squeaking about a year after they were installed, that's the only reason I asked. unknown squeaks suck but I hope you find the source

Uni ball about a week ago. Never even thought about seeing if i could torque down mounts. Definitely going to try that when rain stops. But just realized i have lubed uca bushings a few times but been too lazy to loosen top bolt to insure grease really got up in there. Wouldn't be surprised at all if thats was the culprit. Thanks. And thanks @THROTTLE231

If that doesn't do it, pull your LCA bolts one at a time and coat them the entire length with anti seize. They start making an awful sound when the front end articulates when they start to seize - common 2nd gen problem. I had to have mine cut out and the entire LCA and hardware replaced. From now on, I'll be pulling and treating them yearly.

Better than anti-seize is Lucas Red n Tacky. You'll only have to do it once. Here's a cam off of a 2016 with less than 10k miles. Lubed it once and it will never have to be done again.

Living in 6 months of winter and salt/ mag chloride, I'll be treating mine yearly no matter what I use. I've already payed nearly a grand to have them replaced once.

@Texoma. Uca bushings 100%. By not loosening through bolt I wasn't lubing a damn thing. Thanks
