The shop that is doing my cab mount chop says they reuse the metal they cut away as the filler plate to seal the hole back up. Does this make sense? Any opinions?

It’s all metal it won’t matter if it’s that or 14 gauge. I never capped mine because it’s easier to clean and I wouldn’t be able to remove the rubber bushing.

I don't see why that wouldn't work - especially since it's something they always do apparently

That doesn't sound right.. How did they take a rounded corner cut off and make it a flat plate?
