Hey everyone, new at this and I know there is prob a ton of info on it but I am having trouble finding what I'm looking for. I have a 2011 Tacoma with a 2.5" levelling kit and 285/65R18 Nitto Grabbler M/T. I know they are big but I kept them when I sold my FZJ80 Cruiser. I have trimmed the plastic however I have not touched the cab mount which seems to be the only spot rubbing now. What are you guys doing to it? Just grinding it or removing more metal and rewelding. Some pics would be great. Thanks everyone

Heres my CMC. I got the plates from Relentless fab for $18, cut out the shape of the plate and then weld in the plate.

I love the Relentless ones. My friend got a set from BAMF which were 1/8" metal versus Eric's 3/16".. Much better IMO for bit less I believe.

    Not enough
Another example, with pinch weld pounded flat under fender liner. Fender & Flare also cut up on lower section.

    Here's my cab mount chop.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/jdawg562s-long-travel-tacoma.327832/page-5#post-10119525

I hit the pinch weld with a sledgehammer, free handed a line on cab mount with a silver sharpie, Cut it off with a grinder with a cut off wheel, cut a piece of thin metal alittle bigger than the hole, welded a corner in, hammered it against the hole in the cab mount till it was flush-ish, cut the extra off, welded that part and basically repeated hammering it flush, cutting the extra off and welding till I made it all around. Then grind it using a flap disk and spray painted it all pretty. :D

I probably should of resealed the pinch weld with something too, but I didn't...

I did mine earlier this week, as well as taking a hammer to my pinch weld

I should have brought home my small die grinder and smoothed the curvature of the piece down more, oh well. It doesn't contact so that's a win

Hey guys...wanted to bump this up for a quick question.
I'm going to do the chop this weekend and I'm slowly growing my tool collection on an as-needed basis!
I have an air compressor, but don't have what is needed to do the cutting. What is it I should specifically buy?

Angle grinder. You can get one from Home Depot for 50 bucks for a cheapo if you don't plan on using it very much.

Any angle grinder cut off disc for metal/steel will work. Thinner will be better as you don't have a ton of realestate to cut down there.

Something to keep in mind also is do not overheat the area while cutting or welding. There is a rubber bushing right next to where you are cutting/welding and you don't wanna melt it.
