I’m not sure if I’m gonna go this route but if I do, I’m going to him. He looks like he knows his stuff, and local too.

Warranty? We don’t need no stinkin’ Warranty! Lol

I couldn’t imagine that this would have any more impact to warranty coverage than the lift and big tires that goes with it. I could certainly see them not covering a body mount replacement if something went wrong with it specifically... but should not impact anything else not related (magnuson moss act).

All he talks about is how he made it look more "oemish" after cutting it by priming it and painting it, almost like trying to make it seem like nothing was cut, obviously I'm sure he knows if they looked hard enough they would be able to figure it out.

    And what’s your point here @tacoguy88 ?
He clearly said the whole purpose of the adding a filler / painting it is to keep it as close to original as possible, will it void the warranty? Not sure. Are you a service advisor? Probably not.
Stop being a smart ass and respect.
He’s obviously looking out for himself and his customers

I really dont think cutting this small chunk of metal will void the warranty.

If you cut the bumper or quarter panels to install an aftermarket bumper, is your warranty voided?

I’d you trim the plastic of your front air dam, is your warranty voided?

If you drill a hole on your plastic bed, is your warranty voided?

If you cut a hole in your interior to install a new switch, is your warranty voided?

The answer to all of these is no, as long as the problem you want fixed under warranty isnt caused directly by the modification. If you get water leaking in after a CMC because you didn’t seal it properly, it probably won’t be covered. I believe they are welding on plates and painting them for aesthetic reasons only. Trimming that metal chunk does nothing to compromise the integrity of the vehicle, or anymore than cutting off quarter panels or fenders for a bumper install. As long as they are done properly. The guys in the video aren’t Toyota warranty experts, and most people on YouTube just talk to say shit, it’s not always accurate.

The more important factor is your relationship with your local dealership. Some service writers are just dicks, others are willing to work with you. I have been fortunate for the later.(but helps knowing some contacts in the higher ups)

Every company will try to deny warranty work. Going in with a better attitude and building a rapport with your local service center works well.

I had a rattle in my upper middle console. Told dealer, they couldn’t replicate it, so they actually just pulled it apart and reassembled it with glue. No more rattle since. Don’t be a dick, it’s not you vs them.

As a writer warranty claims have little to do with us. I'll write warranty claims all day if I can. That's how we make money. The issue comes from the manufacturer and type of complaint. We know what we can warranty and what we cant. Chasing a problem doesn't pay, replacing parts does. I warranty brake rotors left and right because I can. I've warranties aftermarket windshields. I've warrantied cars people intentionally tried to destroy. Toyota is stingy, they are an "economy" brand and just dont care about aftersales like some others.

Rant over. :threadjacked: ummm cool cmc op

He says the point of welding the plate back on is to make it look stock, but I was informed by other members of this forum (and confirmed through further research), that really the point is to maintain the strength of the mount.

I know this an old post but I have been trying to figure out what it would take to fit my tire size. Obviously I would like to avoid the BMC/CMC if I can but with the sizes that I want to run it looks like that won't be happening. So here is a question I have been wanting to ask people that have already done it?

Is it better to relocate your body mount completely rather than chopping it from how it was originally provided by Toyota?

According to Toyota's specs, the body mounts are designed in a specific way to work like how they were intended to. When you chop them off, you are modifying the factory component and not necessarily adding an aftermarket product - so the magnuson moss act probably does not apply. However if you relocate your body mount completely with an aftermarket kit like this one would you have a better argument to make - plus better function and strength as it was designed to be used that way?

    https://alpinedesignsoffroad.com/co...-toyota-tacoma-front-cab-mount-relocation-kit

I ask because I am a strong believer in doing it once and doing it right.

Dont put non recommended tire size on your truck if this is your concern. By the time you get to cab mount interference, you are way down the rabbit hole with lifts wheels and tires and likely not getting any of that warrantied. Plus only warranty I can imagine it effecting directly would be frame corrosion. In that case I think they would view a face of it cut off the cab mount less damaging then separating a factory weld and grinding and welding onto the frame to move it.

What are you trying to fit and I may be dumb but what is a body mount? I dont see cab mounts relocating without some serious creativity and a lot of fab work. Cutting off the front face of cmc is no big deal. I didnt even put a finish plate on mine and it looks fine after 4 years in new england
