It could be that the batteries in the sensors are failing. Unfortunately they are not replaceable.

    Definitely get the dealer involved.

If you'd like to try one more thing, Carista can now reprogram the sensors. That might give you a look at any faults, or if one of the sensors is flakey?

I have same issue in upstate NY with truck 20k on it. I think it's the extreme temperature changes. 20-30 degree daily changes. Tires going haywire

The door is the correct value assuming you've never changed the tires (as in, OEM model, not exact OEM tires). Keep an eye on wear and adjust up if you get shoulder wear and down if you get middle wear. The spec on the door is going to be best for average user everyday driving (e.g. one-two passengers, some light cargo) but if you plan on having a full truck frequently (either adult passengers or more than a few hundred lbs in the bed) then you'll want more air.

Higher pressures will improve carry weight, worsen the ride, and improve fuel economy, lower pressures do the inverse; the gains in ride quality or economy will be negated by the wear if you have them too high or low so get a cheap tire wear gauge and check each shoulder and the center tread depths every thousand or so.

I keep forgetting that Carista has that now. I have a perpetual license for Carista (I bought it before they changed to the weekly or annual plans), so I might as well give it a try to see what it shows. Thanks!

    You're welcome!

Oooh! I would have gone with that if available. My accidental year just expired. I only used it three times, so weekly access is still workable.

Sensors seem to be reporting normally. C2177 code though for the TPMS system. Appointment is on Tuesday at the dealer.

It's good that you have a current copy of the sensor IDs, just in case.

I'm sure you searched, but the attached file seems relevant?

If you have the tool, delete and reprogram them from your ecu. Else get a shop too.

That is a screenshot out of Carista. It allows you to do that now. I think the problem is on the receiving / processing side?

Yep, I suspect the receiver itself since it was making a strange noise when this issue first started.

No I think what he means is that the sensor fell off due to rusting frame on 2nd gens.

OP replace the right rear wheel sensor which is not transmitting or transmitting bigus info.

It could be possessed. There’s not a lot of precedence though, demons usually prefer to posses things with souls... other wise, what’s the point? Best case scenario the demon has condemned the TPMS sensor to eternal damnation. If youre convinced that’s the problem, first, try some basic diagnostics. Learn the demons name, as that gives you POWER over it, and continue troubleshooting from there. Also in the past a bad battery has done this to a sensor as well. At this point it’s 50/50 which of the two issues it is until you do some digging.

Frame rust was not some isolated thing to certain year 2nd Gens. 1st Gens, Tundra's, and Sequioa have the same issue, plus I believe they are looking into frame rust on the 4 Runners now also.

Well it's at the dealer. First they thought it may be a bad battery in one of the sensors, but then they couldn't get the ECU to communicate with the TPMS system at all. They asked about my accessory lighting and I explained how it was all wired directly to the battery through a fused relay panel under the hood. I mentioned the noise above the rear headliner and played the video for the tech. They are now looking into that since it's the middle between the sensors in the wheels and the ECU. Tech said that this is a first for him. Always reassuring to hear that.

Good job documenting your case. That definitely saved the day.

Hopefully it is smooth sailing for the rest of the fix.
