Cabela's Masterbuilt 30" electric smoker trouble shooting

    HI all. I have a MES 30" smoker from cabelas. over the last year or so i have noticed that i am only really getting smoke during the initial heat up of the smoker. After that all i get is no smoke and a bunch of charred wood chips. Anyone else seen this or have a potential solution?

    I think this is normal for these, I have one also. Someone suggested using a separate smoking device like this

    The problem with the MES is it uses the burner for both heat and placed right above is the smoker chips. so once the heat is off it smolders out. I usually do the bbq on a traditional smoker, but if I want to smoke some fish or jerky I use the electric.
