Alright, 70K miles and I have never replaced my cabin air filter. I purchased my truck in Dec of 05'. So yeah it's been a while. Out of sight, out of mind. I saw a thread about where the cabin air filter could be found and sure enough it needed replacing asap. I went to Toyota. The guy at the parts counter said there were no aftermarket filters available. The going price was over $32. So I checked online. I found this and purchased it for less than $13 shipped! Be aware and be advised... check out the filter.

Wow, that is one dirty filter. Great find for a low cost air filter.

The sad thing was is that when I found the air filter it was dirtier. I vacuumed it and brushed off as much dirt as possible.

none except for crappy hub caps and floor mats.
If it looks that bad at 70,000, mine must look awful. Mine has never been changed and it has 217,000. How much difference does it make if you change your cabin filter anyway?

:der::crazy::der: Yeah that's a good point! Well BobWilson? LOL. Well, in any event, I'm seriously glad I changed it. BTW, if you haven't looked up the tread to find where the Cabin Air Filter is even located, check behind your glove compartment. Good Luck and be careful with that little pump that helps support the glove box door.

I just checked mine last year and it was pretty bad - and it only had 12,000miles on it at the time. I bought another one and installed it. Cleaned the dirty one and have it ready to swap out probably sometime this summer.

Speaking of the glove box pump - how the hell do you reinstall it?. I've tried and failed so I've given up at this point. Glove box still functions fine.
I'm sure it's affecting my trucks center of gravity or some other important thing. Any hints?

That's funny. Do it with a flashlight or in direct sunlight. Attached to the pump on the back side are two holes. Use the lower one (the one that affects your center of gravity) and insert into it the little black clips (two of the side by side) that extend outward. You'll notice that at the end of the clips are edged that would hold it in. It's a little tricky.

I had the same problem today when I installed my cabin air filter. I couldn't figure out how to reinstall that little glove box pump. I tried using the lower hole and it still wouldn't stay. Can you take a picture of how the glove box looks installed please?
