Ok, ordered new cabin filter after watch 2 YouTube videos that had the up/down air flow arrow different directions. So does the air flow go up or down?

What does your existing one say is the arrow pointing up or down?

Depends on the filter. Most Toyota filters will read "install with arrow pointing up", while some aftermarket will indicate that the arrow should
corresponds with the direction of airflow. The air flows downward.

    Can't make it too easy.

Pick a direction and install. If the truck starts air conditioning the outside, then it's backwards and you should reverse it.

Think of it this way. The blower motor is below. They don't design these things to have debris pass through the motor before going through the filter, they want to filter debris first. So, if the blower is below the air flow will be top-down.

Air is sucked in through the cowl panel down through the filter and directed through the vents throughout the truck. Air flows down; filter arrow should point down.

Lol, 17 months late. 2 months late usually isn’t good news. But good info.

Haha true as I admitted. I just replace my cabin filter and took that pic and had to find somewhere it might help someone and your thread was the winner. :D

At least on the 2016 and up there is a lot of space above the filter so you don't scrape of the leaves and other junk sitting on the top of the filter as you slide it out. The last generation Tacoma and my 04 Camry does not have a lot of space above the filter. I always check the blower with an angled mirror and light for leaves and vacuum with a small hose taped to a 1-1/4 shop vac adapter if necessary. Any debris will end up stuck to the evaporator core.
