i just came across this post last night. reminded me that i had a new cabin filter sitting in the garage waiting to be installed. replaced it in 2 minutes. funny how much the local stealership charges for 2 minutes of work.. lolz

i'll try cleaning the old one.. it was pretty bad though.

Let it soak in some dish soap, and warm water for a bit. Be gental when cleaning. :)

Interesting that this was revived. I bought some of the replacements and switched them out a few weeks ago. I just cleaned my original one last night. Ran it under hot water, let it soak in soapy warm water, scrubbed it with a dish brush, then rinsed and left it out to dry.

:annoyed: I just replaced mine but now the stupid dampener spring thing falls off everytime I open it! It detaches from the dash clip. Not the glovebox one. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

The part it connects to is split in half. Carfully try and pry it apart, so it grips the dampener better. OR, attach the dampener, and insert a small screw into the part that connects it.

I tried pulling it apart but that didn't work. Where would I put the screw? In between the two tabs that I tried pulling apart?

Thanks so much for the video. I have a 2005 Taco and could not find any reference in the owners manual. Your video showed me the location. Theslot was empty and no 2005 part listing at the auto parts store. I tried a 2006 part and it worked and fit just fine. I noticed another post for a 2005 wondering about it. It seems like they made the place but did not include it. Seems odd, I wonder what the story is.

Thanks! You just saved me some cash. A local Toyota dealership wanted me to pay $75 to replace it. Crooks!!

Thanks Chris. I just did it this afternoon. I got the big stuff out by tapping it on the ground and using an aircompressor.

Hey guys I just thought of something in a quasi buzzed state...what about a small rubber grommet applied after replacing the dampener?

    Hmmmmmm
