Hey all, another day, another question. There is a cable under my truck that is hanging, the bolt that it's supposed to attach to is broken. I'm not positive what the cable is for, I'm hoping for a suggestion as to how to best re-attach. The pic shows how it is supposed to be, I just jammed it up there to show everyone. Thanks!20231120_084500.jpg

How in depth are you willing to go? Id say the best way would be to find someone with a stud welder. Clean an area just adjacent, weld a new stud, paint, and reinstall. (and Fluid Film your whole truck)

A quicker option might be JB weld a short bolt to serve as a stud.

I believe its a spot welded stud from the factory. Suppose you could drill it out and do the nut/bolt idea, but you'd have to mess around with moving all the carpet and probably drivers seat too

Thank you.. at the moment I'm going to go the JB weld option and monitor from there. Thank you!

Just an update for anyone who cares or runs into this, I threaded a nut onto the stub that was left and used JB weld to secure it. I then JB welded a few washers onto the U bracket, then threaded a short stainless steel bolt through everything and onto the nut with a little loc-tite. Will see how it holds up. Thank you all for the info!

That's your transmission shift cable... Had a bolt break on me awhile back, the bracket falling off and the shift cable sheath melted on the exhaust. Really caused me quite a bit of issues while off-roading in Colorado. Those cables are on a pretty long backorder from Toyota too.
