Someone just created a new thread about this a few hours ago I think. There are probably hundreds of threads in total on the topic just search around.

It doesn’t do anything for you. Spend the money on a tune instead if you want to see actual performance gains and not just some noise.

Save some money and get a tune then. Circle back afterward...

The 3.5 V6 Tacoma uses the same air filter as a 5.7 V8 Tundra so there is plenty of flow available.
Aftermarket intakes do add noise however it that it an interest.

Do tunes help MT as well? If all it does is change shift points to access existing power, the gains on MT would be minimal.

    Just a heads up,
you're better off doing some research vs hi-jacking another thread that most people will ignore. @PapaRee will give you some info about what he adjusts for the MT tune for (KDmax tunes) I run his tune and it does make a difference

Your truck comes with a CAI from the factory. It's already pulling air from the right fender well as opposed to the engine compartment. If you want to increase the air flow get an Intake Flow Accelerator from the parts counter at your dealership or from one of the many online sources for about $30

After looking for a cai myself and looking at the various designs of after market cai's. I've concluded, for myself, that the factory intake on my 2016 trd is honestly a better setup.
Like you said. It's pulling cold air from the fender while these other open box concepts appear to draw hot engine air.
    One man's opinion.
