There will be a couple microbiologist positions in Moccasin (for the SFPUC) opening up this next year. Probably slightly different than what you do. Pays well though.

    Not my background.

Endangered species, permitting, regulatory compliance, mitigation, and other bio resources like sensitive habitats, waters of the State/US, etc. are my background. Plus an attitude that my job is to prevent or minimize project constraints. I am the farthest thing from a tree hugger.

Not a lab guy. Those people literally turn into microscopes. Look at the structure of a microscope then look at someone using one.

Private party, our neighborhood is trying to get a small, ancient water rights company to fix their ditch leaks that flow down our road. Makes a mess in the summer, real bad with snow in the winter. Keep telling us they have done or will do all they can. At least three of us wrote letters to the PUC this last week. Will see if that goes anywhere.
I have a friend who works for some CA water dept out of Fresno I believe is where he works.

So you basically get Bay Area Pay in the Yosemite foothills, eh? I believe that is how their paygrades work, right? Or is there some sort of adjustment?

Translation. I'm a technical editor basically focused on all things water for the past 17 years. I take stuff engineers write, sometimes ESL modelers, and turn it into something coherent and consistent for clients. I work with engineers, scientists, economist, planner, etc. you name it. Bureau or Reclamation Basin Plans, feasibility studies, tons of stuff for DWR, CVP/SWP planning and modeling with lots of Delta, Clifton Court, etc., GW quality, worked on several projects for SFPUC Hetch Hetchy WP, Cherry Aqueduct and some other pump stations stuff (Eleanor?), more WQ analysis, Moccasin facilities master planning, material handling process, policies and procedures, Penstocks rehabilitation and corrosion analysis, San Joaquin Pipelines stuff. Various plant O&M manuals for various clients. For Golden State Water Co. did about 30 water master plans in a year, most in the LA Basin, USFWS instream acquisitions for salmon, Delta Plan, most recently CVFPP and now the project formerly know as BDCP and then WaterFix. Mostly.

Right on. I have worked with technical editors on master plans and was responsible for QA/QC of their wordsmithed biology language. Impressive list of projects there. I recently took a technical writing class from someone that does exactly what you do, translation.

Yeah definitely ping me if they pop up. I'm still renting. With my outside company if I bust my ass for another five years then maybe I could look at houses in commutable range. Kids are expensive.

What do you do for SFPUC?

I’m in the customer service spectrum at SFPUC. Specifically for New Service Install and Capacity Charge. If one needs new services, one would come to my office and apply.

I forsure a lot of growth with the SFPUC in the coming years. Always good to get in and move around. Since we generally don’t take from the general funds. Jobs are much more secure when a resession hits.

Have you read the re-population report for the Mountain yellow-legged frogs? I believe it was less then a 6% success rate.

That is why I haven’t moved to a different bureau in the city of Portland... the water bureau is rate payer reliant and never has had layoffs yet because of the general fund being short.
