ya actually i did look into that club... looks like fun. But what are your thoughts with these off roading trips?.. they look amazing but to be honest i dont really want to be going over boulders...im cool with some mud and snow and gravel... but i'd need a lift for most of those trails dont you think? But ya, gotta say love the 2012...drives great.. aggressive front end.

To be honest I have yet to go on a trail run with them because I had knee surgery and have not yet taken the trail and safety course. Hopefully one of them can chime in here about it but I have heard that they do trails where you can do an easy one (stock should do it) or a harder one. Its up to you and how comfortable you feel. Nothing crazy unless you want.

I am taking the safety course in March and hope to go on some runs afterwards so I will have a better idea for you then.

But come out to one of the meetings and meet some of the guys and they can let you know more than I can. Hope to see you out there.

    Cheers

I sent you a PM with more info, but the trips are pretty easy for the first time out. To be honest the hardest thing on our trucks is mud, rock as long as you don't pick the harder lines is fairly easy.

There are a few guys in the club that have ran stock for a few years, I was stock for my first year too, and it was only once I put the lift on that I started doing body damage, lol.

It all comes down to the driver and your line, but we can help you with that with spotting.

Ive been wanting to CT4WD thing as well. Just seems a bit of a commitment with all the courses you have to do with them and everything.

If anyone is interested in doing some light/moderate 4wd trails in bragg creek, waiporous, kananaskis or whatever, give me a shout. Anywhere close to Calgary will be great. Weather is good enough to go out already.

I kind of feel the same way. I was thinking when the next year of their membership rolls over I might give it a shot though. I don't have any friends with trail rigs, so I always have to wheel very carefully. I guess that's why I like McLean, there is always someone around to pull ya out.

Anyway, I would be up for a ride. Need to get myself a CB...

So we got 3 guys up for some light to moderate wheeling you say?

    Hey guys,
I wouldn't mind heading out for some off-roading as well, don't want to do any crazy trails where I bang up my truck. I've been to Mclean a couple of times but don't manage to get out enough time to justify joining that club.

Post up when you guys are planning on going and I'll definitely try to come along

Yes Im in. We need to exchange emails or something. Or just post here - whatever.

Sounds like everyone is up for similar 4 bying which is a good start. With how this winter has been we could almost get away with throwing the M/T tires on already =]

2nd winter I've run them year round. No complaints here.

The only course you need to take is the Trail Ethics and Safety course if you would like to go on one day trail runs which is only $70. I am taking it on March and I have heard it is really educational and well worth it. You need the other courses for multi day trips like the one they are doing in May to Moab. Not sure if I will do them yet but then again didnt think I would be doing this one either. Since joining I have kind of got the bug now lol.

However you can join for free and I know guys on there do post unofficial trail runs too. Something to consider.

Sounds like you guys are getting a good group together on here though. Have fun and I hope you post some pictures. :D

My issue is that I'm generally working whenever they hold these courses.

Kinda the perk and the downside of this job.

I'm generally at work when these courses occur too, but I'm also a member of CT4WD. I plan to attend all of their courses when and if I can. For now I try to get to as many meet and greets and day trips as I can. They are a great bunch of guys just like here. Along with the courses, you also get group buys, etc.

^ this. I picked up a spare set of rims thinking winter driving would suck. Hasn't been an issue so far though. So no winter tires yet. I figure I'll wait till the off season to buy some.

I've managed to outfit my truck with the crap people sell off theirs. Hasn't let me down yet. But yes, great crew. Polite and helpful to the point you wonder if it's a religious cult and where they're hiding the koolaid. But there isn't, just good honest peps.

Ditto. I'm going to get some Yokohama geolander i/t g072. That or a set of Firestone destination MTs and stud them.

Hey, does anyone know of any good junkyards with a couple of 1st gen Tacomas in the Calgary (Red Deer, Lethbridge, Golden BC) area? I need to tighten up a few minor things on my 96 before I even think about starting the process of importing it from the US.

    Thanks.
