Twist caps have no place in a motor vehicle. None. Ever.

They're definitely not the best solution but I do use them for temporary wiring installations until I have all of the needed components in to solder/crimp.

Whats the reasoning for your viewpoint on them?

They’re usually used in a box where the wires are clamped on entry to the box and the box is fixed to framing that doesn’t move, wiggle, vibrate, etc. Prior to the box romex is stapled within 6” of the box. Wire nuts are connectors only and should not be used where the connection can get tugged on or vibrate loose. They just aren’t the best thing to use for automotive connectors. With all the other choices available they shouldn’t even be considered. That said, the Darwin awards are always accepting entries.

They don't cut like the other connectors, the tip spreads the wire and keeps a tight grip on it. And the wires are so small already just cutting the insulation off you risk cutting a few strands.
I do solder most the time, Especially when its a high amp draw.

Bagelboy nailed it. Automotive wiring gets vibrated too much, it needs a much more solid connector. Household use only.

I would use them in an emergency, but I would have to be desperate. Like, Red Dawn desperate. Ruskies are coming desperate.:D
