$0.01 is already too much. Registration is just as much of a theft as taxation is.

Paid $675 last month on my 2020 TRD OR. I'm in LA County. $50 of that is for the black plate.

Are you saying you park at yellow curbs and leave your truck without getting ticketed or towed?

My understanding is that you have to be actively loading or unloading before 6 pm, even with commercial plates. Genuinely curious what your experience has been.

We settled on a value of $100. Things have changed to try and catch people like you that work the system. Messes it up for the honest people.

Interesting that you would confess to (and seemingly proud of?) a crime. Mental Note: Tell wife to grasp purse when around jtaco11.

Not so fast, motor vehicles are not subject to property tax in California unlike Connecticut.

California has low (relatively) property tax.

Had a 2003 frontier 265k. Traded in for Taco. Needed tranny and SC. Great running trucks.

Most passenger vehicles and trucks are $110 every 2yrs regardless of cost.

Yes. LADOT states 5 mins for passenger vehicles, but up to 30 mins for commercial plates. What ends up happening, most of the time, parking enforcement will drive by and leave a chalk mark on a tire. If the vehicle is still there once they come back, it gets ticketed.
What happens if you just erase the chalk mark? No ticket, most of the time. It's rare they remember the vehicle that was parked there.

As it was said before, it all depends on the parking enforcer that day. I never got a ticket for parking in loading zones with the DMV assigned, commercial plates. Left it parked for about 90 mins in DTLA. No chalk, no ticket. We will see how it works out now that I have custom plates.

A couple safety cones set up around the truck, clip board on the dash and an orange vest on the seat.....no one every questions parking.

We Californian's send money to about 40 states who receive more $ from the feds than they provide. Gotta come from somewhere.

Wow i thought Pennsylvania was bad here trucks like the Tacoma are weight class 2 so the DMV fee is $92/year. Then they added an option for the county to have a vehicle registration fee if they wanted to in place of alowing all the counties to have a tax increase. So if your country does that's $5 per year per vehicle. Even on Trailers like campers. Like the yearly registration fee for my camper at it's weight is $6 plus the $5 fee so that's $11. They used to only make you pay the $5 once if you registered for multiple years at once. Like you could do a truck or car for two years or some trailers up to 5 years. Nope not anymore... They need more $$$

Do you have safety inspections in Pennsylvania?

Our travel trailer is maybe $20 for 5 years (don't quote me on that, it is small).

Yeah we have safety inspection and emissions testing for Petrol vehicles. The safety part is about $32 and about the same for emissions they have to be done at the Same time. If you fail emissions you used to be able to get an exemption if you spent like $400 or more to repair but not sure if that's still a thing. There is no grace for safety. You pass or pay to fix it to pass or you take it home and park it or scrap it.

So for my pop up camper 5 years reg would now be $55
