so in my city we can only use water I believe once or twice a week on certain days, it depends what the last digit is on your home address. We can only use the water for the lawn and not for sidewalks, cleaning windows, washing vehicles etc..

the only way to get our vehicles cleaned is to take them to a car wash that recycles their own water.
I hate car washes because they always leave spots And scratches.

My question is how are you guys going about this?

I was wondering the same, but here in Northern CA (Humboldt) I haven't heard about specific rules like not to wash vehicles. I just heard about conserving water in general. Interested to hear what others have to say.

You have to use a spray nozzle.

my grass is dead..lol . therefore I use that day to wash my truck. I do take my cars to a car wash at times that recycles water and depending on what type of wash I get, I usually do the detailing right after. I hate doing it that way.

In the city of San Diego, there are the odd/even outdoor watering restrictions. You can still wash cars with a nozzle attached to the hose for now. I will be pretty upset if they ban home car washing, because I hate letting the car wash monkeys near my truck. Missed spots, water spots, excessive tire shine and $25 for something I can do 25 times better myself.

Seeing that I wash my vehicle once every 6 months I feel that I have conserved enough water to owe it to myself to wash it. No fucks given.

Still washing once a week until someone says something. My investment and I plan to protect it. I have made other cut backs like watering the lawn twice a week etc

Agreed. Can't remember the last time my truck was washed. I just wait for the rain.

We got to give thanks to California's politicians. They care about flowers and bugs. Too much corruption.

I use a power washer with a foam attachment and water never reaches my neighbor's property thru street drainage. That's how much water I save. Hopefully it doesn't come down to banning washing vehicles in residential homes.

Meanwhile, using a pressure washer for cleaning a driveway and sidewalks for 4 hours was about 1700 gallons this morning.

What drives me crazy is way too many people think someone else will cut back on water, so they don't need to. Relative owns a power washing business, and has never been busier.

Just kidding, my truck is used and abused, I spray it down like once a month just to keep the bird poop from eating through to the engine

I don't have any restrictions in my city yet. Still, I don't wash my truck very often. I'm more concern about my electric bill cause the ac.

Here in Huntington Beach,CA.you can only use the water on Mon,and Frid for car washing, lawn watering etc.in my area of HB.Lately i've just been wiping my Tacoma down with a bucket of water and shamy or using Meguires quick detailer. My Tacoma is black so i like to keep it clean.A neighbor in my housing track just got fined $400 for over using water!Look into rinse less car wash.I've purchased it before through a Meguires detail shop but forgot the name of the brand. It's not made by Meguires though.Pricey but worth it.I can't afford it at this time but would be using it now if i had some.

Waterless car wash. Or, if you have a garage (to hide from prying eyes) you can do a two bucket wash, assuming you're talking about normal cleaning, not some post mudhole rejuvenation. Done right, with the right products, no hose rinsing is needed. But you will use a few buckets of rinse water.

i usually go to the do it yourself places and bring a bucket. $3 to soap up. bucket wash. $3 to rinse.

the owner caught me doing this and said he was fined twice, $1,500 a pop, because people were bucket washing in the bays.

so now i can't go back there so i'll have to figure out how to clean Regicide. there's no way the bastards are going to touch her.

Turn on a hose, fill a bucket, wash, rinse, dry. Done.
