Then you don't need a grab handle, you need to hire an assistant to go place a step stool for you, in addition to covering all the mud puddles so you won't step in them...

Seriously, like @stun gun said, many of us have completely changed the way we enter the vehicle. I used to be a "right leg and butt first" guy. Now that's impossible as I am physically too tall to fit my head and torso into this truck that way. Now I am a "right arm and head first" guy when entering.
It was almost a dealbreaker for the ten minutes it took me to figure it out.

Or wait on that first "blind spot" liability lawsuit. People sue for anything nowadays.

The left pilar has already the holes for the/a handle. There is is NO liability like people think. The airbag deploys towards the window unaffecting if a handle is there.

Before buying my Taco this was one of my concerns, I have always had a left handle on my trucks/suv and loved it, it helps me getting in and out and prevent me from rubbing the seat every single time. I agree with the idea of having it and if someone makes one out of aluminum I will be buying one immediately!

Lucky you but I have problems with both knees at times. The driver side handle on my 09 taco was really nice when I needed it to be there.

All the bitching about grab handles makes me wonder how fat and out of shape your typical 3rd gen owner is.

Is there a difference in type of airbag or how it deploys compared to a second gen? They have driver side grab handles and airbags.

LOL, take a look at your average Ford platinum owner and you will realize they would not fit in a Tacoma.

A grab handle would be nice, but I live without it. I’m one of those that wish the truck was lower. I have running boards to make things easier. It is a circus to watch my 80+ father and girlfriend climb in (they don’t drive). I’m probably adding the headrest paracord handles to all of the headrests.

They left it off because of the added blind spot it causes. Probably got sued multiple times and just left it off.
Sure, one could easily be designed that folds flat but apparently there is little demand.

As fat and out of shape as the typical 2nd gen owner, I would guess.

Actually, it occurs to me us 3rd gen owners are in much better physical condition, hence Toyota eliminated the assist the 2nd gen guys need....

I’m selling these custom Toyota 3rd Gen drivers-side grab handles if anyone is interested. They mount directly to your windshield for that OEM look.

-Prototype pictured. Actual item with say “TRD. Developed for Racing”
    -Will feature red suction cups.
    -Airbag compatible.
-Works with TRD Sport or TRD Off-road models, but not SR5 (must be TRD....handle is specific to the racing models)

Asking $795.00. Will consider group buy.

Brilliant, I would have bought four of those bad boys (one for each entry), but alas I own an SR5.

I don't need one of those super fast TRD racing trucks anyway, or any grab handles for that matter - but those are just so cool!

    Lol.

Wait... I need one for when I am quickly approaching the truck from the passenger side and I need to Bo Duke it across the hood! I will mount it right on top of the fender! I'm getting old and don't jump as well as I used to...

Should have bought the inferno sport.

From what I hear, that trick only works with orange vehicles.

Look away, look away, look away.......

Was gonna say the same things. That auto stop/start mode they have was designed for drive through window waiting lines while they mouth breathe their way to the front.

Right? Forensic files is LEGIT. It’s a little dated, but every episode is like poking around in someone’s nasty business.
