I called TRD at 800-688-5912 and they documented my request to make a single key fob conversion. If enough people take the 5 minutes, maybe they'll make one. And they were open on Saturday....

I believe he wants the fob incorporated into the plastic end of the key so you don't need an extra piece dangling from your key ring.

Guessing he wants something like this, where they key is in the keyless entry remote.

I was curious what Toyota was going to do with the 2012 front end redesign when I bought mine. I actually prefer the Key with the dangling fob because I take my key surfing and swimming so I don't want all that electronic stuff attached to my key. If you don't need a waterproof key this is a good idea.

Single key would be nice but BBtacosurfer has got a point. Less to worry about when on the water for all the watermen out there

Would be nice to have for day to day...if OP wanted to just pay to have it cut and programmed...

Doesn't mean he would have to get rid of his current key...

I just find it ironic that a flip key (non TRD) case can be found for a Camry (which already has a built in head), Corola, and just about every other car, but zero options for the Tundra/Tacoma/Sienna/etc crowd. I would take either....a flip key, or a fob built into the head of the key.

I wish it was all one piece, wife's camry was a combined key/fob and so is the rav4. not sure why they haven't done this with the trucks yet.

I think the reason why Tacomas don't get the integrated fob is because of the philosophy of a truck...you don't need a sunroof and automatic tailgates, a gazillion buttons with flashy onboard displays ( I do have Entune btw). I love my Tacoma because of the few buttons and non-powered rear sliding window that it has. Once you start with the integrated Key fob it's all downhill from there lol

My Audi has the "switchblade" keyfob, and I love that it doesn't dangle from the ignition or have an external remote for the locks.

But the "switchblade" type is a bit too fancy/delicate IMO for a truck key, they (Toyota) should model theirs off the older ('02-'08) Dodge Ram keys.

    * and they should also offer a factory "Remote Start" option & include it on the key... ;)

It should come with 2 keys w/fob & 1 "valet" type key. (yes, exactly the opposite of what the pics show)

Eh, I just like my stuff streamlined.....thats it. I've never had a need to have them separate.

I think of it like this. The exhaust on your Tacoma does it's job...right? But they still make a "better exhaust"....They make better brakes, wheels, tires,,etc etc. So why not have the OPTION to make your key and fob in one piece. It's plastic, the format already exists'. They just need some chinese engineer to get on his computer and punch in a bunch of numbers....just like all the other key fob conversion kits, and Whoo La.....another thing I can buy to personalize my truck. The rest of you.....can keep your two piece key and fob, I'll keep my stock exhaust.

4Runner guys figured it out. I will be doing this to my Tacoma over the winter holidays.

I to hate extra keys cluttering my keyring up.

I owned a VW and it had it, I loved it. I wish that Tacoma had the same type of key.

    It is just a guess.

The keys look the same from a 4runner to ours, and they came out during the same time period.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
    NO!
I hate fat keys. My Subaru had the integrated fob+key thing.
