Now if only I could combine my key, fob, and Silencer/(kill switch fob) all into one key!

AJW1986- For a little clarification, while the metal portion of a camry key could be cut and will fit, the wireless function will not crossover. Each wireless fob (i.e. model of vehicle, not each individual remote) must have an ID with the FCC. For the Tacoma (and I believe the Tundra and Sienna) have the FCCID of GQ43VT20T. And of course Toyota had to build different shapes for all of the transmitters.

As for the ID for the immobilizer, I have not found if other models can crossover. My guess would be that their limited in their compatability.

Read the link i put up.

The 4Runner guys have the Camry key working perfectly. Unlock/locking doors, even popping the rear hatch and if you hold down the trunk button the rear window rolls down, just like the 4runner key.

The link explains how to reflash the key to make it work. It does take 1 guinnepig but I bet it works.

Here's a thought, maybe it would work. Our trucks have a learn procedure don't they? Couldn't you buy a Camary or Rav4 blank and cut it to your trucks profile and then go through the new key learn procedure? Just tossing around an idea for thought.

I'll stick with my regular key. I just pop it off the key ring and start the truck. I hate having a key ring dangle around while I'm driving.

Vantage- While you might be able to get the immobilizer to work, the FCCID for the wireless are different on the Camry and Tacoma. They are however the same on the Camry and 4runner which is why they work.

Hate them things.... Too much plastic and feels like a toy to me when using them.... Maybe as an option would be cool for the fans.
I'd also hate having that thing since it would be useless with the a 2 way alarm.... Then we would have a huge key, and the LCD alarm receiver

i had a hand full of non chipped keys made when i first bought my truck. i do a bit of surfing too and id rather not lose an expensive key(which ive lost 10 or so surfing)

plus they only get in the truck and wont start it if someone did get a hold of it. i hide my keys pretty well:wave:

If you'll notice, all of the vehicles with that ID all have that same remote, all the way back to ....2004? Camry? Not sure why Toyota is still using that same FCCID. Probably cheaper.

What would be interesting is if the computer that recieves the signal could be swapped out. Would have to dig further, and honestly...all that work for....a single key fob?

With this, http://www.viper.com/SmartStart/, you don't even need a fob.

I can unlock/lock/start/locate my truck from literally anywhere in the world using my phone.
The only downfall is that you need cell phone reception for this to work, and if you don't have reception, you put your key in the door and unlock manually. :)

But like others. This is why I don't like having it on the key itself. Once you install the remote start it would be redundant to have two fobs. Also the factory ones seem to always break.
