Isnt it just a oil change and air filter and a big check list?

i did everything on that 30,000 mile maintenance checklist for $77. i just can't see spending that much money for an oil change and filter, air filter, and to check all of the other random things.

Ah yes its a V6 so then yeah spark plugs. But I would check to see what their "30k" includes..

Typically you get a full check list just for going in for an oil change. They look to find problems because they want to sell work.

Just check and see what it includes. It may be that they change more fluids such as diffs, transfer case.. what not.

There is a lot of threads on the 30k service point. Some real good information. Most is real simple.

Im not a mechanic, but I used Chris 4x4 DIY for plugs, it took me 45 mins to change them. Paid about 20 bucks for plugs.

Did my spark plugs at 60,000 took me 30mins. That is crazy paying that much for 30,000 miles check up. Honestly doing the spark plugs is the only thing I would do myself as far as maintenance. Picture below is spark plugs at 60,000

You could easily do your front/rear diffs, its literally drain & fill. Make sure you take the fill plug out first, incase you cant it it off, then drain and cant get fluid back in.

I agree. That is way two much money for the 30k or 60k maintenance items, most of which are only inspections. You should have a list of them in a separate booklet that came along with owner's manual. You can d/l 2nd gen tacoma factory service/repair manual at the link below. It is very detailed. Further down the list there is a wiring manual as well. Good Luck.
