Alright, so I answered my own question. The LF site says they only offer the Lance in spot and wide which kinda pisses me off. Im going to get the third light which I should have done initially. I think the price I will pay for 3 of the 140's would be close to having 2 170's. After regretting not going with the 170's I think getting a third will be sweet after all.
Probably going with spot-wide-spot lens setup, although I would still like to see some night shots of the different colors anyone might have. Pretty pumped about ordering this shit but wont have it done for at least a month:mad:
Waiting for parts and installs on our trucks absolutely drives me crazy!

I'm about in the same boat. I bought 2 140s a month ago and wish I would have spent the extra 60 bucks for the 170s. They're bright and real nice but I guess I expected more for 220 bucks. The 170s have 3x the "candella" so... bummer. I'll probably get 170s and a light bar in the future and sell these or mount em elsewhere.

Yeah I hear ya. The 170s would offer tons more light by the sounds of it. Its my fault buying with little knowledge or research, I really jumped the gun on buying these but I'm glad I went w/ lightforce over other brands. 170's would be a perfect size at 6.6'' but Im not gonna sweat it. Give me a month and I'll be a happy camper with the 3rd light mounted.

Once you get a good spread with three you'll probably be fine with it. I have four spots spread evenly and with the trucks high beams i got everything i need lit up and i can't outrun them.

yeah i think it will help a good amount, and look about.... oh, 3X better. hahah

hey are you running all of them off the battery then? Should I have any concerns? I would hope not, prob only issue would be if the engine wasnt running... They are all 12v bulbs IIRC

Those are probably 55w bulbs? X3 165w? Not a huge load but with any battery you can tap them out pretty fast with lights. I don't run mine without the engine running, I need to replace my battery anyway because it's old, 520w taps it pretty fast without the engine going. Don't forget to fuse that load right off of the hot battery lead, if it's 3 55w, a 15A fuse should do. 3 55w bulbs = 13.75A one 30A relay will be fine for all three. Make sure you have a decent ground for the lights too, a good bare metal spot that connects to the frame is what you want. An unused bolt hole somewhere on the radiator frame is a good one.

Really tho i use my 240s for spots. The 4 Hellas kinda help fill the spread as do my PIAA 510 fogs..but nothing is as handy for width as..THIS

Seriously best light mod ever thus far for me...sorta. Not easy to do, took me about 4-5 hours at least to make them and wire up. But pretty darn sweet.

Honestly though i don't believe there is just one light that'll do everything. My Hellas 500ffs come close due to their cool lens..but they still don't project as far as the LF240s even with the 55w HIDs..but the LF240s don't spread as far as the Hellas..

so really, IMO if ya want great light..gotta add more :D haha

Thanks Monte, I wondered when u might show:). I was introduced to the force from your build. haha. I thought they were badass on ur truck, and knew thats what I wanted. Those 240's light up that white barn like crazy! Althouh I didnt know u had HID upgrade. Only the best, eh? I saw some of these pics in the "what did u do today" thread I think, and yeah the side mirror ones are sweet! Good for turning at night definitely.

An additional 140 with the wide pattern lens should be sweet. I might just get 3 wides and 3 spots lens and call it good for my needs. This will probably just lead to me wanting more but I'd like to call this soon-to-be setup good for now. I always go back and forth on what direction my truck should go... wheels/tires next probly

edit: are those bars the blitz you got from the group buy? I thought u had another larger one too but maybe not, good deal that I pry missed out, on this round anyways

IDK about the 1st gens, maybe someone can chime in here, but the 2nd gen tow package alternator is rated at 135A output, it's designed to have extra load put on it. That's the only other issue with hanging lights on these trucks.
So you have 18.75A @ 225W=20A Fuse inline on the hot lead coming from the battery going to a 30A relay and you're good to go!

actually my 240s aren't HIDed. my Hellas are :p haha but yea the 240s are impressive! And pretty much any LF light is epic i think. just get better the bigger the number :p

the lens idea is a good idea too. I can make the light versatile. I just didn't like the idea of having my filters in the truck. But yours aren't as large so that shouldn't be as big an issue.

also by using three then yo can kinda angle the two outer ones out a little bit too and have the center one pointed strait. That'll help as well.

and yes those are 6lz Blitzpro lights. I have 4 of them. 2 in the mirrors and two faceing backwards for reverse lights and just rear lights. Then i have 2 of the larger 21s bars on the side of the roof rack for side lights  and then 2 3lzs that im going to make into camp lights.

    I like lights :anonymous:

dayum, that's sweet, there are plans in the future......oh the imagination runnith wild......three batteries with essentially three separate electrical systems....two alternators.....back side to side, driving in the grill, off road on top, camping lights, custom fabbed back end with tent rack, 1300 mile cruising range with 100 gallon fuel cell, water tank, natural gas and air tank, winch behind bumper in front two spare tires on top.....oh yeah!

I like his set-up, him and me are obvious light junkies, lots of modding goes into not screwing your truck up adding that much electrical to it. I'm sure all his stuff is fused and wired correctly. When in doubt, over engineer it I always say. I spent a lot of effort running heavier guage wiring than i needed, I used the same grounding point as the battery which isn't totally necessary but I wanted to. The switches are on my center console right where my fingers fall when i rest my hand on the vault armrest. I can switch the fronts on and off with my right hand in the same motion i switch the brights off with my left. I use the rear KC's (260 watts), more and more in dark busy parking lots and my own dark driveway. I am less concerned about annoying people than making sure i don't hit someone backing up.
