Hey Marines! What do y'all think about this?

    http://www.military.com/news/article/2011/corps-ends-rolled-sleeves-policy.html?ESRC=marine-a.nl

I saw this comment on that web page, and got a kick out of it...

present day Marine corps: some walking around sleeves down because they're units directed, some walking around sleeves up. Some moto marine with sleeves up in his armpits perfectly smooth and cutting off circulation. Some marine hanging around base legal with sleeves that haven't been rerolled in weeks. Some Gunny or major with rolls down around his elbows looking the same way. Oh... its black flag... sleeves down, now sleeves up. Oh its October and 45 degrees out but we're in deserts.. sleeves up, now down, now up. Nice sunburn Lcpl.... NJP.

Next time you run out of ammo or food while out in the field I am sure your attitude will change.

Holy crap y'all! chill out uh?! No matter the MOS, we're all giving up years of our lives for a greater purpose. Sure some may have it easier than others, but in the end we all signed our life away. I can understand the differences and pride/hatred among different MOSs but holy shit, like others have mentioned already, we wouldn't be able to work with out each other.

The narrow minded will never see beyond their own tasks, only what they have in front of them, and only what they go through. Shit I'm a POG who in my field (artillery mechanic) out of 120+ Marines in my old platoon, I was the only one qualified to do my job. Maintained 6 howitzers, well over 7 million dollars worth of equipment well before the age of 21. The same howitzers used when 0311s or forward observers call for when they need a fucking block, or building leveled out!

Ya, some may say "spoken like a true pog" but very few people get to endure completely shitty weather so cold, windy with pouring rain that you pray for the opportunity to keep moving only to stay warm, even if that means staying up days on end.

Believe it our not, we (all service members) are the minority of the population that decide to give up years of our lives to do some cool shit you would never get to do other wise. How many can say they have been to more than 5 countries all before the age of 21, or have done things others could only dream of (or never dream of doing for that matter  ) only to get out, and atleast get a free education? Not many.

Same fucking team, Semper fuckin FI Marines!

    Rant over

Buddy, I really hope you're just trying to stir the pot.

Look, any Marine who's been in the fleet for more than 1 field op or even better a whole deployment knows that it's all a team. Talking mad shit to someone is all well and good amongst your friends who hold different MOSs. Here, not so much.

That being said, I'm an 0311 grunt, and I'm really damn proud of that. That's the job I joined the Marine Corps to do, and I was really good at it. Not everyone joins to be a grunt, and I have no problem at all with that. My pay hit the bank like it was supposed to, my ammo, fuel, and chow showed up when it needed to, and we all bleed Marine Corps Red.

For all my TW Marines, let me apologize as a grunt for this d-nozzle. He doesn't represent the high regard the grunts hold for every other MOS. I and my squad made it out of some shit because of some bat shit crazy Cobra drivers, and all the support personnel who made sure that flying miracle could go up, make some boom boom on Sheikh Haji, and come back down.

danjones, you are obviously a boot. STFU and read your knowledge.

    LOL that shit is hilarious!!!

0311 myself and ain't got nothing against POGs. The only POGs I hate are the ones who come out talking shit. I've had a POG come up to me and say "I can do your job better than you can." I also hate those ribbon-chasing POGs who always brag about their stories and shit.

Being a good Marine is not about how many ribbons you have on your chest. Being a good Marine is about passing on your knowledge to junior Marines, mentoring junior Marines, staying out of trouble, keeping physically fit at all times, and serving honorably.

    Semper fi devil nuts.

:ohsnap: !! I love grunts though. Great guys all around. They do a hell of a job blowing shit up and killing people. I love it when I get to train with them but I am much better at driving than I would be at killing people. I drive and I love to drive. That's my job but sadly it's turning into a desk job :(

I appreciate this and the fact that you and your guys cover the docs while they try to work.
I have yet to figure out why in God's green earth you guys decide to knock on our doors at 0230 to show us a bug bite

BTW, I didn't earn the EGA but I have been witness to more than 20 occasions where green kids earn the right to be called Marine. I am truly sick of Lee Greenwood too....it's sentimental at the time but it gets annoying over time...

This dude is a poser. This paragraph shows he is. Then he posts a photo of some Marine with a gun and claims its him. Based on his writing style, I am putting him in the 6th grade..maybe 7th. If he is who and what he says he is, I would be ashamed of his affiliation with my branch. But, I doubt he is more than some wanna be who has played to much Call of Duty.

By the way, here is a picture of me with my squad hunting aliens. It really is me, since I posted it on the interwebs. I am the guy toting the mini.

Thats what I was thinking too....poser. The way he talks just doesnt seem like he's a Marine one bit. We may be cocky, rag a little on other services and even criticize our own but not like that. All services do theyre part and nothing more than gratitude should be expressed! I would like to have a beer with this "jonjones" just to get to know him better.:D

I think he got "outed" and not the "outed" kind of way from the other post.

The questions would have started coming..and I doubt he would have had the right answers. If so, I am 2 for 2!

Make sure you bring some O'douls with you. He's either too young in the corps to know what he's talking about or he plays video games. Either way he's not 21.
