Ever go scuba while you were there? I did a bit of snorkeling but never got the chance for scuba. Oki was a great place though.

I know yout question isn't aimed at me, but some buddies and I went snorkeling a few times off the Schwab beach. We swam out to the islands out there, that's was a fucking blast.

I really regret not getting a scuba diving license while stationed at Oki though.

there's some beautiful spots on Oki for sure though.

Right before I left (beginning of '08) I heard there was somebody that died out there, got caught in a current and bashed against some of the little cliffs out there, you hear about that?

Served as a Corpsman caring for Vietnam wounded Marines 68-70 in med-evac units and hospitals. Never was a "Bush Corpsman"- had a great deal of respect for them.

Got out, went back in, got a Commission as a USN Intelligence Officer- recalled to Active Duty for the 1st Gulf War in 91 and 92- all over Southern Europe and the Middle East- retired as a Lieutenant Commander (O-4) in 98.

Of all the titles I've ever carried, however, the one that has always meant the most to me was "Doc"

Semper Fi to all the Marines
