Call me crazy but this worked for me. I don't know how to explain it but it just feels and drives better. Get in your truck push the traction control button and hold it until you see Trac Off. If you just give it a push it will say Auto LSD so hold the button in until it says trac off. Take your truck for a spin and see what you think just normal driving. We all know you can go get crazy and blow the rubber off your tires. Just do your normal driving and see what you think. Ive been doing it for about 3 days now to and from work. It just seems to drive and shift better under normal driving conditions no more stutter or jerky shifting for me. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

I have had it off in the snow before but never paid any attention to it driving differently, will have to try on a nice day.

I've noticed this with my 18. I noticed a difference during 2nd gear starts.

I have found this to be the case as well. Makes sense, since the ECU is no longer applying brakes and limiting engine output.

will try it. but i do already spin tires in normal driving. interested to see if VSC affects throttle or something.

I'm also gonna try removing the clutch return spring.

This makes sense to me. My FR-S drives way better in sport mode. With the VSC always on, it feels like every bump or slip causes the car to brake or cut power. Could be in my head, but I push the button every time I get in the car.

How do you like it? I've been bouncing around the idea of picking one up for a daily driver after I get the Taco payed off.

Also known as "the fun button"! Living in a snowy state, the VSC can be more of a problem than a helper!

I just tried this and to my surprise it does feel a little different. Instead of the power surge that usually happens after 3000 RPMs is happening earlier at around 2800, the only downside is cruise control doesn't work.

Yeah same here, I can get the tires to spin in 1st pretty easy.. especially when turning. I have felt TRAC cutting engine power in deep "ish" snow before, as I was in 2Hi going down my side road after a storm. The main road was clear/wet, and as I turned off I just gave it the beans and thought I was in for some fun oversteer shenanigans (no traffic). Lol, well the TacoNannies shut that down pretty quick as VSC first used the ABS to straighten me out and then the throttle went almost dead. Like dead fish. Anyway, should have at least entered Auto LSD mode before turning off.

If anything becomes of this, perhaps Mat (OVtune) should be asked to check on it.

When I’ve done this trac off doesn’t stay off above a certain speed. Want to say like 35 or 45

I can't hurt to try. The Taco is the first vehicle that I have owned that I don't hit the TRAC / TCS / VSC Off button every time. If it improves things, then maybe.

    Thanks!

Exactly. Once you are cruising above 45, TRAC OFF disappears.

I suppose this is sorta like the ECT button our Automatic brethren's have, I'll give it a go! Thanks for the tip!

I'm very skeptical this makes any difference at all but I will try it on the way home tonight, lol. If you are breaking traction on starts and VSC/TRAC is kicking in then yeah sure, turning it off will "improve" things but if you aren't getting into either of those systems I would not expect anything to be different.
