Drove my 04 off the lot with 3 miles on it. 110000+ miles all driven by myself other than my dad one time, and a friend one night when I was obliterated, and of course the rare Toyota tech. Only replaced tires, spark plugs, fuel filter, and oils.

I got mine in february 2001, 140,000 miles on it. Never had a single problem other than a sensor. I bought a new one last year but I still drive my old one just as much, for some reason it's easier to hop in and go

was the original owner of my 00 Prerunner, and sold it in 09 with 95k miles. I swear I almost cried when I saw her drive away. I am the second owner on my current 04. Got her with 28k in Nov 09. Too bad the 2nd gens dont compare to the 1st gens otherwise I would have drove a new one of the lot.

I bought mine new from Dale White motors in Elko Nevada January 2001. It's hard to believe it's been my daily driver for 10 years! Its worn the plates of three different states and taken me 156,000 miles. I don't think I'll ever give it up. Some day I may get something to drive daily and garage it for weekends. Just not today!

Bought mine in October of 2000.

Still have it even though I replaced it with a 2010. Looks like it's going to be my daughter's first vehicle.

297k on the ODO and still runs like a champ.

    Other than basic maintenance:
    Thermostat
    Starter
    Radiator
    Rear main seal
    Both inner tie-rod ends

Bought a leftover 01 new in 02. 4cyl/4wd. 103k miles, I'm the only driver. Had the frame replacement done last fall, beautiful job that renewed the truck. Only other issues ever have been replacing muffler & front brake pads. Runs like a top.

Drove mine off the lot in 2004 with 12 miles on it. Since then, its been driven from Washington to Maryland, Maryland to Georgia, Georgia to Washington, Washington to Alabama and in about a month, back to Washington. No problems so far at 65,000 miles.

Picked my '04 up in February of 2004 with 20 miles on it, which was after I had taken it on a test drive. 94,000 miles later and other than me only my brother and a couple of friends have driven it a handful of times total. And the few mechanics that have touched it. Worst thing to happen so far is a dead battery.

New frame, warrantee at about 190,000.
    Timing belt at about 170,000.
Water pump and new belts at about 210,000. Water pump is still good, the sealing surface was seeping A/F. Growl out of the fan bracket, greased the bearing and its like new. I posted the procedure for greasing. Look for Fan Bracket, Free Fix, Must Read...
    Forward O2 sensor at 207,000.
    Three windshields.
    Four sets of tires.
    Original rear brake shoes.
    Three sets of ft. pads.
    Right rear axle seal.
I do all of my own work, except the frame.
Still looks and runs like new!!!
I'll get pics as soon as it gets warm enough to wash it! I'll take pics when I get to NJ next week. Will be in Black Hills, Lead, SD, Aspen, Moab July or August, Las Vegas, Tyler TX. Fun camping road trip!!! That should be another 6000 miles or so...

Just a note, I never got better than 18 MPG until last year. I made the camping trip out west and decided to use the cruise and stay between 60 and 65mph. I couldn't believe it! I GOT 21 MPG! So much for "making time" on trips from then on...

2002 4cyl 2.7 original owner. Just shy of the 150k mark but had to get a new shortblock put in under power train warranty around 53k. Since then, I don't even let my baby go into overdrive. I will eventually give her up at 250k though because that will get me through the next 9 years to retirement :)

my dad bought it brand new in '02. i've taken over the truck now for about 6 months. it has ~226k miles and it's been trouble free. it's due for a new timing belt job. i'm torn between modding this gen 1 or wait until i can afford a gen 2 to start the major mods. i like the looks of a gen 2 more, but this one is more sentimental since it was my dad's since new.

    Newbie here.

Original owner of an 03 2.7L regular, side step PreRunner SR5 with less than 33k on it. I would put a picture of it up along with 2 identical side step trucks in the background but phone/comp sync issues. Surprisingly, along with those two trucks, I've also seen a red and a black side step Tacoma around at times. I guess they're s not so rare around me.

Do companies still make campers for side steps?

Also, is there a detailed thread to look at on how to evaluate and fix the AC? I left it in the streets while I traveled overseas for a month. Came back and found out that it had been involved in a hit and run. According to my family, the cops thought I was a drunk driver and had parked half of the truck onto the sidewalk until they saw the huge dent in the front bumper. Lost my antenna too. How much does it cost to replace the antenna? Thanks for the help!
