I stacked the second photo, but only for multiple focus points.

I use a Canon 5D Mk II currently. But I use Lee filters in order to get the range into something that I can work with from a single shot.

I don't need to do that, I've used them both.

Well that's nice. I used to do professional portrait and wedding photography before deciding to just do landscapes and I work for a multi-billion dollar software company as an engineer...so what? I have also done comparisons. Your comparisons are also just like your opinion man.

You don't really need IS on a 24-70. The focal length isn't really long enough to require it. Maybe I'm special as I can hand hold to 1/10th of a second with no issues.

Yes, and this makes it annoying especially if I were carrying two cameras at once doing a wedding and I have to switch back and forth between the backwards zoom and normal zoom. It gets annoying.

Sharpness is just one consideration, as is color saturation. For what I do, corner sharpness is important as is how the lens deals with flare or chromatic aberration, barrel distortion, and many other factors. For models, yeah you probably wouldn't have that much of a difference. And yes, when you can control the light in a studio you can get away with other lenses, but you can't really control the light outdoors on such a large scale. Can't really hold up a scrim in between the sun and an entire mountain range :)

Also, no phone camera exists that would be sufficient for what I need. The sensor is simply too small to render detail acceptably.

Note I never said Tamron was crap and you couldn't get good images from it. I just had an exception to you saying it was "just as good" which it is not in my experience.

Zeiss has some killer glass, but you're going to pay dearly for it. I don't argue that the Tamron is a good buy and at a good price, just that they aren't "just as good" as Canon.

Nice man! Definitely a great shot. I’ve been trying to build my lee filter collection. I used to do a lot of landscape but living in the city I find it easier to just walk around the city for some urban street/architecture type of photography. Not a lot of beautiful landscapes in the LA county area.. it’s a bit of a drive. So I imagine you used a graduated filter.. soft edge?

That's for an APC sensor. not sure If he has FF or Crop. I have the Tamron 24-70 2.8. Love it but it is a heavy beast. I believe the Nikon 24-70 is a bit smaller but not sure if it's lighter.
