That lens is fine for everything you'll probably want to do(unless you're looking to get HQ shots of wildlife, but then you'd want a body with better AF anyway).

Sorry I'm late to the game, but this is all sorts of sexy. Very nice work.

I don't have any new pic's of my truck taken with my work cameras: Nikon D4s and a D850. Too many lenses to mention but all the way from 14mm-600mm. I was a Navy Combat Photographer for 30 years and now work for the Army as a Photographer.

Good shots of what? Birds in flight? Landscapes? Portraits? Travel/street/documenting life?

No experience with Canon but the 24mm f2.8 STM EF-S lens would be on my short list for a compact walk-around lens, but I like moderately-wide wide angles for most things. I had a 21mm for my Pentax for a while and it’s a very handy focal length on aps-c bodies. Wide enough for most uses, without a ton of distortion if you want to take pictures of people.

Hey all. I want to start taking more photos, especially now that I go off-roading and whatnot and my iPhone X is just not cutting it. I'm wondering what is the best camera for taking pictures, with the focus being in low light and even dark conditions. My budget is around $1,000.

    Cheers.

You aren't going to get good low light performance for that price unless you get a good deal on an a7s and then use manual lenses with adapters. Anything dealing with bad/minimal lighting is gonna require fast lenses and a body that handles digital noise really well which doesn't come cheap

The best low-light performance body you can get for under $1000 is the Pentax KP. The kit with the DA 18-135 WR lens is about $1300 on B&H right now, $1500 if you go with the somewhat better DA 16-85 lens. Both lenses (and the body) are weather sealed to a greater extent than just about any other manufacturer, it has in-body shake reduction, huge dynamic range, and excellent low-light performance. It's tracking autofocus isn't as good as a Canon or Nikon sports or pro body, but is more than capable once you learn the camera. If you want a fast prime to go with it instead, the bundle with the DA 50mm f1.8 is only $915.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Sorry I missed that this morning. I have not kept up with some of the newer bodies -- so that is my bad. I have gotten settled and satisfied with my 7D(gone) and my newer 7D MK2. Both are crop[ bodies
The camera looks to be a solid performer -- also it DOES take all of the EFS lenses. Here is another 3rd party breakdown of your camera with regards to lenses.
    Have fun with it!!
