I wish I had a good book to recommend. I started off with a notepad and pen. Find something to shoot, put the camera in manual mode then note the shot number and the settings (f stop, apperature, iso, etc). I'd make small changes then note the new settings and how the shot changed.

If you're unsure where to start, put that sicker in auto and take note of the settings, then start adjusting from there.

    Hope this helps

I think you'd be better off looking at You Tube and any of the basic stuff from Scott Kelby. But if you are interested in books try:

Complete Digital Photography, 8th edition: Cengage Learning PTR

    Better Photo Basics: Amphoto

Awesome, I'll look into this now. Thanks!

This sounds like a really good idea. I guess this would also be good for making notes of the settings that I used at different times of the day. Thank you!

Thanks! Youtube has definitely been a big help with me getting into it. There are a lot of sources to use in terms of all of this. I'll be sure to look up some stuff from Scott Kelby this evening.

    Oh nice thread!

    Flowers always make photogenic subjects.

Here are some from yesterday at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.

Went with the Z6. Today. Pretty stoked to get back out. Having issues with Nikon fixing my 750 but glad to be back in the game. Thanks for the input.:spending:

    SOOOO JEALOUS!

I went out to shoot milky way this weekend and ended up getting stuck. Sink hole on the left side of the road and when my truck drove over the hard pack on the right side it crumbled away and the side of the truck sank into a pit. Whole drivers side front tire was under the mud. Took a 6x6 military vehicle to pull me out the next day, but I was still able to shoot the milky way.

None that im aware of. Drove her home 200 miles about and she didnt skip a beat. Alignment might be slightly off, but no big deal. So much mud in the wheels that it was throwing my tire balance off haha. I started to get scared when the water started to get close too the door line since my door gaskets are pretty much completely shot. Couldnt get to any good recovery points on the front so we ended up hooking a chain around my trans cross member to pull the truck. Worked great.
