Was at Thompson for Gasser Nationals in Ohio and got a few nice shots. Also visited Marietta Ohio and took some shots on the Ohio River. I am originally from near there and it was nice seeing the river again. We were following the boat in the picture I took. It had 15 barges loaded with coal. 2019 Thompson gasser nats 093.jpg 2019 Thompson gasser nats 061.jpg 2019 Thompson gasser nats 111.jpg 2019 Thompson gasser nats 113.jpg

Really contemplating moving from f4 to f2.8 70-200. It's my favorite lens by far. Not at all cheap though.

Fast is heavy and expensive, but oh so good. I had the Pentax aps-c equivalent (DA* 50-135 f2.8) and it was my most used lens by far. I only sold mine because the autofocus failed.

Yeah weight is also a huge pain...but I'm mostly carrying in the truck so not as much of a problem as I originally thought when getting the f4

I have both the f/4IS and the f/2.8IS II versions of the Canon zooms and the 2.8 is the lens I use more often than anything else. I keep the slower lens as a backup but have not actually used it except to do Auto Focus Micro Adjust, since. In fact I've owned every version of that Canon lens and these are the two I've kept.

When sunset doesn't give you any colorful clouds, you take the moody storm clouds and make a B&W photo.

And some color from the next morning:

    mcfweb.jpg

Not a ton of color on my fall color trip this year unfortunately. Just a bit too early and it was too warm to change the trees. Of course, this week is going to be much colder and it will probably be nice next weekend, when I can't go.
