I'll make sure to pick up that Moab guide so I can see everything. What you're doing would be about the max I would want to do out there (at least for the intial trip). Trying to keep it fun and bring the truck back in one piece

Yeah. I feel ya. Moab is pretty great. Budget more time than you think you need there, for sure. You'll be stopping a lot, plus a lot of the trails have some really slow sections.

We're blocking out 2 weeks for the trip, and in theory want to stay at each park for 2 days a piece. So we'll have 4 days of buffer in case we get caught up in all of the exploring

Look up Wall Street right outside Moab. It's a long stretch of climbing wall. But even if you're not into climbing if you drive down that road to the entrance on the right at the end you'll find a short hike to some of the absolute best, most accessible, easily photographed and less tourist packed arches ha. Best bang for your buck sort of thing.

Are you truck camping? If you only have about 2 days in each park that won't be enough for all of Canyonlands so I would focus on the closest district to Moab which is Islands in the Sky. You can see quite a bit of Arches in 2 days. Arches is mostly paved but there is a few sections that are mild 4x4 only that will get you away from the crowds and tour buses. Canyonlands, Islands in the Sky is paved at the top and that is where all the tourist will be. Depending on your camping situation you could drive down to the White Rim Trail. It is on the mid layer well below the paved road but still above the Colorado River. Pretty easy wheeling but still amazing scenery. You can camp at several spots that make up this 100 mile loop depending on availability (you have to get a back country permit) or you can just turn around and head back to Moab when your ready. Feel free to PM me if you want more details. Been going to this general area since the late 90's.

I'm still very much learning photography. I have a Nikon D3300 (don't want to upgrade until I feel like I'm 'good' enough to warrant it, although I'm not sure how to quantify that lol). Lenses are the kit 18-55mm, I have a 300mm, a nifty 50, and a macro lens. I really want to get a wide angle lens because my favorite so far is landscape/night sky photography. Here are a mixture of truck pictures and other pictures I like.

I'll definitely PM you as we solidify our plans on where we're going and how long we plan to stay there. We're going out with a roof top tent, so we're keeping our fingers crossed that we can find some open camping spots, since it seems like a lot of the campgrounds are first come, first serve. I've heard that the White Rim Trail is great, but to plan about 2 days to do the whole thing. Is that pretty accurate? We have a 4 day buffer in case we enjoy a certain area a lot and want to keep on exploring. And if we choose to camp on White Rim Trail, would you recommend any aftermarket LED lighting? I love the new Tacomas, but am underwhelmed in regards to the lighting they use

    None as of yet

Saw a photo moment Sunday when I was moving some boats around on a family member's property. Didn't have my DSLR with me so my S6 had to do. The best camera is the one you have with you.

    I'll play...

I had a Nikon D300 with an arsenal of lenses including 50mm f/1.8 and 24-70mm f/2.8. Shot anything and everything as a hobbyist...then life caught up and I stopped carrying it around because body + 24-70mm = 8lbs+? So I traded it ALL for a Sony A6500 and 20mm f/2.8 pancake lens...
