I love that truck! And the headlights... Anyone know where to get them?

So it only took me 4 intense months of searching to finally find the perfect Tacoma. Still can't believe I found it. 2002 4x4 TRD Double Cab in Radiant Red with a grey interior. Literally the unicorn truck I'd been looking for...year, color, trim, interior color. I've looked at probably 10 trucks over the months and this is easily the cleanest truck I'd seen.

I plan to remove the tonneau cover and linex the bed. Not sure if I wanna go with black or paint matched red yet, will have to think about it. Also have a nice set of 15" powder coated alloys and new M/T tires that will hopefully be on by next week.

 

Nice find. Beautiful truck. How many miles are on it?

 

165k You'd never guess over 100k though. Had it inspected and it was basically trans flush and general maintenence stuff. Nothing out of the norm. I paid a bit of a premium for it, but i plan on driving this until it falls apart.

 

Here's mine...just bought it in January. Added the TRD wheels, remote start and auto dimming rear view mirror with thermometer. Moving to Alaska in a few months, hoping to get the tundra brake swap done and possibly a shock upgrade...

Unfortunately the Extra Cab isnt in that nice of condition anymore...or even driveable

 

My 2002. Looking for a camper shell in south Texas if anyone has one for sale.

 

Old thread, but here's my new to me 2001. Bought it from original owner, 114,000 miles, running good but not driving, bad tranny. Pulled a tranny from a buddies rolled 2wd 4runner, swapped the output shaft/tail housing, main shaft, pan from the bad tranny onto the 2wd tranny and just got it back on the road. Decent pile of parts I need to install in the next couple weeks to get us out and camping/exploring this summer while I finish building a pair of Spidertrax 9" axles that are going to go under it eventually.

Current short term plans/parts Ive already picked up consists of: Icon ext travel front coilovers and uniball upper control arms, OME dakar leafs and Icon 2.0's in the rear, 285/70/17 Maxxis Razr MT's, SCS Ray 10's (Copper/Gold), CBI bushmaster 1.0 rear bumper, Adventure Offroad front bumper coming in June when he's got some space/time, Warn winch, bed/rtt rack and rock sliders I'm building myself, full skids front to back and all the little stuff like longer brake lines, new bushings, frame plates front and rear, etc.

Hopefully have the majority of the parts installed in the next cpl weeks, play with the truck this summer/fall while I finish the Spidertrax axles then swap the IFS stuff over to my 99 4runner and put the Spidertrax axles under the Tacoma.

Yep, don't worry though, its not gonna be a copy of yours. I like yours for sure but mines gonna be different.

 

Haha no worries. I wouldn't be upset even if it was an exact copy. I'm just stoked Jake is finally building another 1st gen bumper! Look forward to seeing it

 

You and me both! Can't wait to have something to get out with again. Sold my last rig 5-6 months ago and spent some time looking for the right truck and buying parts, now just need to get everything installed and get out!
