    My Reg Cab has a 15 gallon tank, does anyone have a 18 gallon tank?
    Not sure if there was an option for 18 gallons or not

    He is 4wd though.

    My 4wd Xtra cab has an 18 gallon tank, I think it was probably just the regular cab 4wds that got the 15 gallon one

    Although Toyota did a lot of weird combinations with the 1st gens so who knows

    Mine is 18, my biggest fill up so far has been 15.something, which makes sense.

    @1997tacomav6 are you 100% sure yours is only 15 gallons?

    If I fill up when my gas light comes on, I get about 15 or 15.5 in the tank before its full (due to the extra ~2.5 gallons that are still in there when the low fuel light comes on)

    I guess I'm just wondering how you know it's 15 vs 18?

    Seems like the manual is making it sound like all 4wd models come with 18 gallon tanks

    I’ve never been able to put more than 15 gallons of gas in my tank and I have run out of gas twice in 630,000 miles lol,
    I’ve done Walk of shame with the little red gas can in my hand.

    After I got my injectors cleaned and serviced my MPG jump up a lot to 325-340 a tank,
    Before it was at 260-275 miles per tank

    That's usually all I can get into my tank as well. I'm betting you do have the 18 gallon one you just still have a few gallons left when you fill up

    Could always run it to empty and see how much it takes lol

    I get like 215 miles to a tank :ballchain:

    My gas tank is currently sitting on the floor of my garage, I suppose I could grab some measurements from it. Its an awkward shape though, not sure what measurements would be useful.

    I looked into this a bit recently as I have a reg cab 4x4 and assumed I had the 15 gallon tank. However, I used my eyecrometer parked next to a 5-lug that for sure has the 15 gal tank, my tank is several inches taller -- as referenced by how far it sticks down below the frame rail.

    I think we reg cabs have 18 gallon tanks that cannot use the last few gallons.

    I ended up finding a tank from a scrapped 01' reg cab 4x4 to swap in, since the aftermarkets do not have baffled sumps - so I can fill it with water a gallon at a time and see how much fits from bone dry. I'll update with what I find this weekend.

    I just called my dealership with my vin number and it’s defectively a 15 gallon tank,
    He said for my year 1997 that was the only option,

    So maybe a larger tank 18 gallons was added later so where

    Well hot damn. Mine is ~3 inches below the frame at the forward spring mount. Maybe the older reg cabs did have the smaller tank.
