I have a 1999 Prerunner, 3.4L V6 with the A340E automatic transmission. I found the code for the first generation Tacomas to read the transmission temp, and it's been working great for years. I recently got a 1999 Tacoma 4wd, 2.7L I4 with the A340F transmission, and just swapped my Scanguage over and it does not read anything under the same trans temp code. Any advice?

Two questions. One for me, one for you :D

    1) where did you find how to activate a trans temp to begin with, on the SCII side of things? (I have an SCII in both my '04 Highlander and '13 base Tacoma, and would like to find how to do this)

    2) Since the trans would have to have some form of temp output to the ECU for the SCII to read it, is it possible your 'new' trans doesn't have that?

That's what I'm wondering. The 99 supposedly went to a sensor and not a temp switch so it should read it. They are almost the identical transmissions, and I know other 4wds are reading temp.

The code for my Tacoma is going to be different the one for your 2013. Toyota changed computer software in 2005. You can plug into google Tacoma Scanguage trans temp and find the one for your truck.
