Trail report? How was it difficulty wise and all. Curious to know for when I do get the chance to run it.

It's reported as the most difficult trail in VA, I can believe it. If you are not completely armored up you have no business being out there. Really gave my sliders and skids a work out.

Oh man, that video was nostalgic. When I was young and dumb(er) I took my stock 4 banger (base 4x4) down a trail right outside of Blacksburg...solo. I had water up to my Virginia state inspection sticker at some places but I somehow made it through on stock dunlops. I can't remember the exact name of the trail but it ran along the ridge just before pandapas pond. Blackcat maybe?

I think it is closed now, but has anyone been out there in the past?

Looking for the local guys opinion. I am in the market for skid plates. Starting with Front ifs and gas tank skid. Definitely going with pelfreybilt. Just kinda undecided on steel or aluminum. I don't plan on nailing my skids, but I want to be able to run my truck down most any trail including potts, unwharrie, black mountain ky. Truck is a daily driver so the weight (96lb steel- 46lb alum), protection over the stock skids, and no rust is why aluminum appeals to me. So what is yalls opinion on the presented info.

I've been seeing a white 2nd gen with wide tires and black rims around Madison. The truck also has some kind of box in the back. Is that anyone on this thread?

Since you want to keep weight down I'd go steel IFS and alu. gas tank. More likely to hit the ifs skid more often and steel would hold up better.

0-1", hitting south and east in the state. It only takes .01" to get the idiots around here to empty the grocery stores and run into each other like a demolition derby.

Soil temps (4" deep) in the Charlottesville area were 40-45 degrees yesterday so I'll be interested to see if any of it sticks!

So they said I was in the 1"-3" range. At my place I got about .5" of ice pellets.

What did you all end up with?
