Not sure about 1st gens but I know that for us 2nd gens a diff drop kit typically isn't needed for only 2-3" lift.. Just a thought Frank

I think it's pretty much needed for 3 inches on a first gen.

Yep good point, no diff drop needed for less than 3" of lift for 1st or 2nd gens

The diff drops change the cv angles pretty bad, I wouldn't think 3 or under would need one, but then again, I don't have a first gen!

On the first gens the diff drop is needed for over 3". Taylor check them out they will work with you and Robert and Marie will answer any questions you have.

My diff drop actually came in today to the post office here on Campus.

What do you mean "changes them bad" ?

The lift changes them, the diff drop helps by lessening the angle.

I didn't mean in a "bad" way, well, for the 2nd gens it's a bad option, but it changes the angles (lessens) in first gens more so than other options that would correct cv angles. which is why it would be more appropriate for more than 3" lift, surely won't bother having it if you have say 2.75" lift, but there are better options at that amount if I understand it correctly.

I know some have developed vibes with it.

Basically, the diff drop can prolong the life of your cv's by lessening angles, but isn't necessary, and can in some cases be inappropriate for the application.

If you plan on running skids don't do the diff drop.

Can't you just get longer bolts and washers, maybe make a little bigger hole in the skid to fit it? There are some companies skids that will work with diff drops, others you have to modify I believe

Not exactly. The problem is that with the stock mounting points the skid actually never makes contact with the front diff mounting bolts. When you do the drop those are now lower than the skid attachment points so it doesn't fit. Outing in longer bolts would hold it in place sure but not very securely.

ordering a set of 285/75R16 general grabber at2s within the week, scs estimated a 60-90 day wait to get the matte black f-5s back in stock. that's ok though because I should have more money for them by then.

Not sure of anyone that makes skids for diff drops. Yes you could space them down but now you're increasing the arm length and have a greater chance of shearing the mounting bolts off.

Wait, are you guys talking about second gens only, here? I bought a diff drop off of somebody on here and I want to use it after I lift it. I thought they made tons of first gen skids for diff drops?

Also, some guy sprayed the fire extinguisher everywhere last night...
