Hey, a warning to those of you in the Indian River section and surrounding area of Chesapeake:
Be careful when you are out walking the streets after dark. There's an ARMED guy out mugging people in the neighborhood. Tried to make a victim out of me the night before last.
I was longboarding back from a friend's house down on Neptune Court off of Sparrow Road and had just passed the mouth of Shawnee Court when I heard someone hollering behind me. Thinking it was my friend that I had just left the house of, I got off my board and turned around to a black guy (not trying to be racist) pointing a pistol at my head. He told me to "empty my f*cking pockets," holding the pistol just inches from my face, pointed firmly between my eyes. I can tell you the gun was most certainly real- I know my guns well enough to know what's real when I see it, and I was definitely staring at it. I just stood there glaring at him with a 'what the fuck do you think you're doing' look, hand on my knife, as is my habit when it's dark out. He ordered me to empty my pockets again, and I did nothing. I held my ground, stood there for about ten, fifteen seconds before he said "Man, fuck you," and ran off down Shawnee Court. I watched him go, still standing there, and he kept turning back around to stare at me. A black car with its headlights turned off (possibly a Corolla, if I can trust my night vision) rolled into the court as I jumped back on my board to haul ass home- I don't know if that was his getaway car, or if it was just a person that lives down there that forgot their headlights- I didn't stick around any longer. I called my friend Robert while I was boarding back home and told him what happened- he told me to call the cops. (I was not going to do that originally, because I didn't think they would be able to do anything.) So I walked into my house, got off the phone with Robert, told my parents what had happened, and proceeded to call the cops. They came to my house, and I took them down to where it had happened- I was asked all sorts of things, and they brought out a dog to try to pick up a scent, but found nothing. I was given a case number and everything, and they told me that I had handled it right, except that I didn't call them immediately. They were extremely helpful and courteous, and I believe that they performed their job as best as they could.
But anyways, if any of you are in the area, this idiot is still at large, and he is armed. He is black, (again, not trying to be racist) roughly middling height and slightly on the fat side, a two-week beard, and bug eyes. He was wearing a gray hoodie, as he had the hood up around his head, though if he has any common sense, he won't wear that hoodie around here for a while. I'm thinking that because he ran down into the court, he's probably not from around here, because what idiot runs into a court?
So please guys, if you live around here, be on the lookout. I don't want anyone else to have to deal with this asshole. Stay safe.

hey guys maybe yall can help me understand something. I posted my question in the backspacing and offset thread but no one seems to be interested in helping me out. how can a 16x8" wheel have a 4" backspacing and an offset of -12mm? it seems to me that a 4" backspacing would put the mounting surface smack dab in the center of the wheel (because 4 is half of 8). it just doesn't seem to be mathematically possible. please help?

You got lucky...next time you should just empty your pockets and not risk bringing a knife to a gun fight...

I'll have my Alcan's soon, so my stock leafs with Fabtech AAL will be up for grabs soon. 17k miles on them.

Yall honestly think you can whip out your pocket knife, and open it in time to beat the pull of a trigger? lol.

Well, I have the stock leafs with the Fabtech FT202 AAL which is good for ~2-3" lift, I also have the lift blocks. Total rear lift up to 6". All of the parts came with the 6" lift. Free if you help me install my new springs and brake lines :)

When are WE doing it? :D My rears stock non TSB's have been wasted for a few years. I put in a Toytec 2" AAL a couple years back, but it is still weak. I have spindles coming and need to order my new shoes... that'll be a nice addition.

Many moons ago I had a similar experience. It was in San Diego... and it was a black revolver, probably a 38... 5 rounds, target ammo, bullets were very shiny copper jacketed! I can still see it pretty clear. The pistol was face level, but the width of a car from me (we were on either side of a car). Anytime this story comes up, I am asked by someone why I didn't just duck down and run.

When under heavy mental stress, the body goes into fight or flight mode. Blood is quickly moved... diverted to the major organs for a couple reasons. The first indications of this are the "tunnel Vision" as 2 of the 3 vision cones are deprived of blood, and the "time lapse" effect as parts of the brain are deprived. This is why at first, I could explain the gun and bullets to the cops (I did call immediately), but could not say what he was wearing or any other details. It took about 3 hours before I had a grip of all the details. They say it can take up to 48 hours!

There's the FBI's 3 theory: MOST gunfights occur 3 - 7 feet away, have 3 - 7 rounds fired, and last 3 - 7 seconds! There isn't a lot of thinking to be done. Do what you know and what keeps you alive.

In these situations... I say COMPLY!. For all the "coolness" associated with CCW... it is a HUGE responsibility. Situations take a whole new meaning. I found myself walking away from POTENTIAL confrontations, knowing they could very well escalate, and quite frankly, I am not going to be involved in a fist fight, or knife fight. I just had one last week... road rage boy trying to get at me while grandson was in my truck. I was very ready, because he tried getting out of his car to challenge me at one light... but it changed in time. Even if my grandson wasn't there, I would have taken the same action. If he got to a door of my truck... with or without kid in car... results may have differed. It is LIFE CHANGING STUFF!

Lastly... because of the flight or fight... if it does get ugly and shots are fired... or you end up with the knife and do some damage... SAY NOTHING to the police without your lawyer, as "Anything you say can, and WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU in a court of law. Appreciate the police's situation, and respectfully request your lawyer, regardless of how RIGHT you were in your actions. That tunnel vision and time lapse can make you appear like a liar in court, even if you were telling the truth as you knew it at that time.
