Oh it'll be legendary as long as I stay in my current house.

First order of business is to get a welder and compressor and get some lights in my garage.

Then I'll pick up some tube and find a 22re block to start building.

Figuring start to finish somewhere around 18 months - 2 years. It'll go much faster once I get my license next November.

I thought about doing something like that too. Been wanting to learn forever, and I could maybe even get the Navy to pay for my class through tuition assistance..gonna finish my AA first though. Three classes left.

4k, not happening. Would be cheaper for me to have a chassis built at the shop.

    Garage only has 60amp service.

These two machines MSRP under 2K:

    http://www.millerwelds.com/products/mig/product.php?model=M00245

But a Miller SyncroWave is a damn good machine. Check CL and some of the weld stores locally for used machines. I talked to my Weld Supervisor here at work and he said you can get a damn good used machine used or you can buy a new machine that meets your requirements but will be less of a machine.

They all require more than 60amp service though don't they. Apparently my dad had the electrician only run the garage for 60amp service.

If you need 60 amps to run the machine you are pulling some serious heat. My buddies machine is rated to 100 amps and he has on a 50 amp ckt he likes it that way less chance of toasting something.

Exactly. Would tear the bed off, bob and tube the frame, convert the 22re to Turbo Propane, links front and rear, bob front body and go tube.

Trail Gear pretty much sells everything I need to turn it into a Crawler.

Rust don't mean shit on something I plan on flopping.

I just don't want to smash up my DD. Wish I could afford a single cab 2nd gen to tube and SAS.
