    I promised Jay (11TRD) a schematic for DIY in-cab winch controls... Dragged my feet on it, but I finally got off my ass this morning. Decided to share... I put a few explanations because not everyone has the same electrical understanding. This is what's basically going on inside the nice little boxes that 12voltguy makes. If you're not sure, ask the fucking question before doing this.

    BTW, I take no responsibility if you burn your truck to the ground doing this, lol...

    Yeah, I meant to attach a picture... This one here is better than the one I tried to PM, that one was drawn by hand, lol...

    30amp should be more than enough. This is technically a low draw circuit, all the amperage draw from the winch is on the heavy line going straight to battery.

    BTW, the relays and "go live" switch are purely optional... The reason they are added is so that you can cutoff power to the switch so it's not always powered up. The ones illustrated are standard 4pin Bosch style.... Relays are made with amperage (current) ratings... You'll want to use between 30 and 50 amp for this.

    One more thing I forgot to mention, or recommend. If and when doing this, I personally recommend mounting the relays up high and in the engine compartment. It's not a big deal, but the reason is that there's always power coming in to pin 30, which gets powered from your solenoid box which has a battery cable going straight to it... In the event of some unforeseen catastrophic failure, power will be isolated to the engine compartment... The firefighters will understand where I'm coming from here.
